Enjoyable using a mouse and keyboard?
Hi,

I have collected so many different opinions if the game is worth to be played. But my personal concern is if it is enjoyable to be played with a mouse and a keyboard? So I would like to hear from people who enjoyed playing Darksiders I, II or Dead Space 1, 2 and 3, Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning or Batman: Arkham Asylum with a mouse and keyboard if they enjoyed as well playing Remember Me with a mouse and keyboard.

If not, please explain why playing this game with a mouse and keyboard is not enjoyable.

Thank you in advance!

If you can live with console style gameplay - you can play this game.
> It´s not a PC game.<

You won´t find much freedom here. It has a good story that is gameplay wise not used. I would give it a Meta Rating of 55 because of the too simple gameplay and for the feeling it can leave behind of what it could be ... and never will.

Fights can be fun. Miss the ability to block along with other things. Camera can get nasty.

It´s on sale - so not much to do wrong at this time.

Just don´t expect too much. However, it could be a great game - maybe even awesome.

Hope that helped.

It's enjoyable, yes. If you have camera problems, you can adjust the FOV on the go:

Honestly I play better with mouse and keyboard than with my xbox controller
I finished with KB+M without a problem. Now on my second playthrough I'm playing with a controller (on TV using HDMI). Since I'm more used to kbm; controller seems harder than that :beatmeat:

You lie only 1.4 hours playtime.

KB & M are fine here. Enjoying the game, but yeah, its potential hasn't come close to being realised.

I'm having trouble with Mouse Acceleration (MouseSmoothing). I'm going to try Binding the "ClearSmoothing" Command and see if it helps. brb

Edit: Okay, I've Tried leonid87 Method to set FOV (mine set to only 80) and (additionally) Clear Mouse Smooth It's Feel a bit better Playing with Mouse and Keyboard. But Still... The Auto Camera Angle here and there through out the game keep throwing me off.

If i have to say it's Tolerable. For me, that is.

PS: Don't Ask me about using GamePad. I don't use it.

I want to thank you all about your opinions. Now I tend to buy it, because of the many positive criticism about the visuals and the story.

I love open-world games and Remember Me is a linear game, but I still enjoyed playing Spec Ops: The Line because of the good story.

If Remember Me has a good story or if it is outstanding in some other ways, like Dead Space 1 + 2 + 3 for me, I am willingly to sacrifice freedom for enjoying a good entertainment.

What do you love most about this game?

Keyboard and button wise, everything is fine. It's actually pretty easy. Left and right mouse clicks are punch and kick, and when you hold down [Shift] they become ranged abilities.

The problems come into play with the mouse. :Steady_Aim: It seems like the mouse is trying to emulate those right analog sticks you find on controllers. Due to this, there is like a 'deadzone.' If I move the mouse up or down, nothing happens (literally nothing) unless I make HUGE, SWIFT sweeping strokes (and then pick up the mouse and move it back to a comfy position). Even on max sensitivity, looking up and down is like either total deadzone or hyper mouse acceleration on the x axis with little to nothing on the y.

Recent console port games I've played like this are Tomb Raider, and Batman: Arkham City. In Tomb Raider, at max sensitivity of camera motion, it's an absolute pleasure to control Lara Croft. I got this game tonite 'cause I thought it would be Tomb Raider lite. In Batman:Arkham City, I could go in the ini files and set MouseSensitivity=60.0, I think double the normal max. I was comfortable with that, and had tonnes of options (wasd, shift to grapple, space to dodge/etc, ctrl to crouch, q~e to switch gadgets, 1~6 for quickfires, m5 / r / t / m3 to use combo abilities, and so on and so forth). Oh yeah speaking of special moves, in Remember Me you simply hold down your favorite action key (q is default, but probably f or r is a good quick rebind).

I just can't seem to manage to frame the scene, and have Nilin perform awesome as my brain expects from countless other PC games. I've been reading what DaPhuuLz has said here on the message boards, and perhaps there are tweaks possible in ExampleAdriftGfxConfig.ini file, since that appears to be the file designated to PC port overrides. Just a matter of guessing what the commands are... could use a memory drain on the DEVS!

I really loved Tomb Raider 2013. Not only because the whole game is awesome but because the mouse + keyboard control is amazing. The same is true for Darksiders 1, which is a console port as well.

So for me it is very important to have good control. Otherwise a really good game does not give me any joy at all. This is way I try to figure it out by asking people who liked the control of console ports I do like. For example many blamed Darksiders 1 and Dead Space to be not playable. With a few tweaks for Dead Space everything was pretty fine for me and Darksiders was good just out of the box for me.

I guess that people who are used to game pads do value a mouse + keyboard port differently to people who love and restrict themself to a mouse and keyboard as I do.

Thanks again to everyone who gave me his opinions about this aspect of the game.

I think you'll enjoy it! Most mouse/keyboard topics throw me off, 'cause of that stuff (get a gamepad etc). This game restricts you in unexpected ways (like Capcom Resident Evil 4, stand still to shoot) where you are invested in Nilin. If you are ok with that, use the controls, and be open for other ideas.

But am I the only one who get huge input lag ? I'm not the usual input lag nazi (we all know the guy who'd rather play with massive tearing and framerate variation than enable vsync) but it's like 0,5s and it's cleary visible, with K/M and 360 pad.

Is your system strong enough? I mean game is optimized greatly and works perfectly on low-ends, too. But sometimes that lag happens because of poor performance. Can you try lowering the settings and trying again just in case?
