Custom configuration is getting overwritten?

Hi,
I'm trying to tweak the ExampleEngine.ini to resolve stuttering issues (after 30min playing), however each time I load the game the changes seem to get overwritten to the initial config??
As a consequence, I'm guessing my changes are actually never in use.
Has anyone had this issue before?

If anyone wonders I fixed it by setting the config file as read only.
It works, stopped the stuttering!
