I have the STEAM downloaded version (V1.3.2053). Are there any cheats for this version? I last played the original DB years and years ago and have been just exploring in the Enhanced Edition.

Cheatmode is effectively the console commands you've jsut seen above. I've had to use it to get unstuck from some spots.

Curiously, can you adjust gamespeed from the console? I recall seeing somewhere either asking or doing this in a years-old post somewhere.

You can't use INI cheats for the steam version, the INI dosn't even exist for the steam version. How can i surpass that and make it work? My characters are so weak it's unfair and i only want to have fun playing the game but i'm too bad of a player and can't handle stress too well, i easily loose focus in battle.

Have you tried enabling the auto-pause options in game options? I usually use those if I am busy with actual work and playing when I remember it's open. And I to suffer from a 'short' form of attention deficit+OCD. I catch myself staring at the wall wondering wtf I was supposed to be doing. On my way to the toilet. Makes for some laughs =P

Also, the balders.ini file is in C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition.

I had trouble getting the .ini changes to save, and I have heard others experiencing the same problem. Try dragging the .ini file out of the folder before you edit it, save the changes, then place it back in the folder. Didn't need to do that with the original, disc based version.
Fully Sick Monaro 14 października 2014 o 19:54
Sorry! I forgot to mention the read/write issue. As voehringer stated above, simply moving to to your Desktop, editing, and moving back will sort you out. A pain in the arse, but that's the working hacky way for it. Dont forget to back up your file first =) balers.ini.backup or some such.

I forgot what permissions you need to set to make it permanent (I can't even remember if the game automatically resets permissions on the file anyway)

I dunno what I'm doing wrong here I move the file out edit it save it then move it back into the folder and after launching the game it changes back to the original version of the file

Just use eekeeper.

You want to open Baldur.lua and add the relevant command to enable console cheats, I think. Obviously follow the syntax of the other options when adding the cheat variable.

Who care's if it's old. If it's still relevant (the game is 20 years old, remember?) and there's still questions about it, it's useful to have a single repo of knowledge with a history instead of reposting new threads.and scattering it all.

And if you move hte file out of the directory, you need to set the permission on the file to read/write. The game shouldn't be resetting those permissions (maybe on a patch it might) after you've edited and copied it back.

you cna check to see if your settings have saved merely by moving the file to your desktop, edit the permisions, then edit the text (put a dot for now) then save. If you reopen and there's a dot still there, you are good to go to edit and copy back.

In new update use this

SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Debug Mode','1')

It could also be the way that you are selecting the keys. Press CTRL, and while still pressing, press the Space Bar.
