Gamepad?
With the game soon to appear on consoles, will the PC version also get gamepad support? Or is it more likely that it will be a Stellaris situation: no gamepad on PC because different devs?

How desirable is gamepad control for Baldurs Gate on PC anyway?
Not very I would posit.

I'd love to see it as well. I don't deny that KBAM will probably be the fastest and most accurate way to play the game, I'd still like the option of playing the game on the couch without having to rebuy it yet again. (Looking at you, Diablo III. Phbbbbbt.)

Well now they're making a Nintendo switch version are they going to add controller support to the PC version?

The proper question would rather be: How much they have to change interface in order to be controller a decent option?

Have you tried BG from Google Play on your tablet/phablet? Not that great...:(

I am keyboard+mouse player but I use Steam controller for some games. I am using it enough to believe that if the game interface does not count with the option to use controller, it can be real pain to set controller.

You mean stylus? I have to admit I do not own one and I do not remember being that recommended equipment. Moreover I do not think I would appreciate it more than keyboard+mouse (switching between characters, selecting abilities, selecting spells, targeting spells...).
Fantastic? I guess different tastes...

Even they don't know whether or not it's fantastic since they phrased it as a question.

I'm also hoping for gamepad support. It's just so much more comfortable to sit back with a gamepad in hand, than to slouch over the keyboard, plus the wrists don't hurt.

Wait, wut?!? Now i am curious: please name one disadvantage the android version has over the pc version...

PS: it is much better with touch controls imo...

(edit: I am talking about a finished AND unmodded game!)

I don't see what the problem is with tablet and phones for Balder's Gate. It works just fine if you have a stylus or a finger. Phone is a bit small to play with but it can be done. There isn't any controller option the game on tablet or phone. I know this because I just tried it.

Just out of curiosity, what is the problem with the android/ios version you don't like other than it being smaller than what your playing on right now?

Maybe how worse is it to control the game? Do you really mean that question seriously?

It is not problem with being different from desktop version. The "problem" with controls is actually being same(!) as for desktop version.
On the other hand I do not blame Beamdog for that. The game is just very old and none at that time counted with touch controls. It is the same as desktop with very few adjustments to controls (e.g. like camera movement). I would even say it is playable. It is just not great (it controls definitely worse with fingers then with mouse and keyboard - at least for me and I do not believe there would be many people who would have it otherwise). BG has quite tiny UI elements (e.g. selecting dialog choices drive me mad), selecting spells, inventory management is also something I was not excited about, targeting spell, removing traps in dungeons... basically every time I have to interact with the game.
Btw, you could read it already in my previous comment:

Really? Touch controls? I can imagine that stylus is bit better. I can also imagine that bigger screen helps. I really love BG but there are some UI features which I am not overexcited even with mouse+keyboard.

Could you please explain me what optimization for touch controls I have probable missed which makes the controls better?

Well... being smaller and fingers being much less accurate is the main part of "not being great".
Works just fine? How exactly have you selected dialog options with finger? What was your screen size? Again stylus will very likely help – still, I would never said BG is great for touch controls.

Yes. It can be done. It is not great but it can be done. Please read once again my comment:

I have not said it can not be played. I said it is not great.

Other than being smaller? Being smaller and being less accurate is the main part of being it less comfortable to control. It is actually the issue with touch controls: developers has to come up with solution which takes into account of being it smaller and less accurate. BG port is true to original game. Not much changes. I do not complain. Unfortunately BG interface is not great with small touch devices.

It is not that I do not like BG. I have already written:

You seriously must have problems with your hands, as even on my small phone there is NO issue controlling it with touch!

Could you please record yourself (without stylus) going thru dialog? I consider this to be the most evident issue. There is no additional spacing. No additional controls to select it. Sentences very close to each other.

btw, especially some of them (like each option only one line of text)
