I wish the cut scenes were live action just so I could shut that annoying Helena character up! I've read some of the reviews and the ones that don't recommend I agree with fully. Really crappy voice acting, ages between loads, nothing really that new in it, and swearing is mostly unnecessary, not that I'm against swearing but that Jaqi character uses f****g swearing f****g 3 f****g or 4 f****g times in every f****g sentence.
There's also the fact that even on easy, there's certain save points in which I just kept getting killed after a few seconds, forcing me to endure the load time again, and again, until by some stroke of luck (not skill) I managed to get past it by the skin of my teeth.
On a positive, the graphics are OK but that's it, just OK, and not really that outstanding enough to make my laptop work it's ass off.
I was really looking forward to this game coming out, and I didn't really expect a polished game for early access, but unfortunately, it wasn't what I expected.
I suppose my trouble is that I'm trying to scratch that cyberpunk itch, and this isn't the one to do it.

Great game for early access!! Great gunplay, cant understand people who are saying it is bad, maybe try switching aim assist off! Story is nice, voicing ok. Support the devs and it will be a gem!

I received a key to play this game. I wanted it to be good, the process of working with the studio to get the key and everything was really nice and the game theoretically ticked a lot of boxes for me. Unfortunately, the reality was different. In its defense, I played solo so did not get any of the co-op experience which is a selling point.

La Quimera is a fairly standard, passable shooter with possibly one unique gameplay mechanic, unsympathetic characters, rough voice acting and audio mixing, and not nearly enough meat on its bones for the current selling price. The game could have come out 10 years ago and still not been groundbreaking in any regard.

There is not nearly enough gun variety in the game, though the ones that do exist are well-modeled and fairly realistic (magazine catch and bolt release moving as expected, safeties make sense, etc.) Shooting is fine. Nothing to say about it if you've played like one modern FPS before. There is a cool scanning for enemies and shooting through walls mechanic, that was fun. Some enemies are weak or resistant to a certain damage type (kinetic or EM weapons) but I ended up finding guns that largely were useful enough for any enemy without worrying about alignment.

Pretty much every character is miserable. The voice acting is stilted and unimmersive, and kind of weirdly mixed. There's a certain compression to it that, mixed with the delivery, makes many scenes feel like they're being live read on a podcast. Also a fairly noisy game with multiple characters talking at once while a background bulletin plays with world building. Characters do not stop talking and constantly back seat your next move, even when "paused" (the game doesn't truly pause, presumably because it's an online lobby) or looking at something in a menu.

Which is another point of contention. I played solo but it appears to put you in an online lobby regardless. I had minor internet hiccups 3 times which kicked me out of my single-player game and caused me to reload the level and lose some progress. I consider this bad. I did not try to see if the game is even playable offline.

The story does basically nothing new as far as dystopian sci-fi tropes go, asks no new questions and treads new philosophical ground. It started to get interesting in the last half-hour and just when I was excited to see what they were going to do with their ideas, it abruptly ended. So quickly I re-loaded the level and replayed it to see if it was a glitch or I got kicked out of the lobby again. No. It just ends on the one interesting story note.

Save your money. Let them cook if they're going to and reconsider when they publish updates. I don't think updates are going to fix my issues with the characters or anything, but it could be a salvageable basic shooter game with some decent co-op shooting action. I know it's meant to be replayed in co-op but with about 3 hours of actual meat, I don't see how they're justifying a $30 early access cost.
