Need help with the modern combat mod! (It won't launch)
Hey sorry, if i might sound like a douche now, but i'm quite pissed at the moment. I'v been trying to get this ♥♥♥♥ working in the past 20 minutes with no luck so far.
I tried every method i could find on google, but whatever i do, when i start the game, the steam client belives that i am playing company of heroes 1, but the game isn't even running visibly. I can close it with the taskbar, but that's it. No other source of it, so clearly it's not there.

Is there any way to fix this or should i just delete the game?
Because i'm starting to lose hope.

Are you launching using the ModernCombat.exe or using the .bat file? That might be what is causing the issue.

Well that might be the problem, i don't have a ModernCombat.exe, so i tried using the bat file, tried linking a shortcut to the original COH exe, and also changing the launch options. Normally the game starts, but if i change anything the thing i mentioned above happens.

Try Steam Library > Rightclick CoH (New Steam Version) > Properties > Set Launch Options

There insert "-dev -mod ModernCombat" (without quotes)

If you did that, and still have issues, you might not have installed the mod correctly, dumb as that sounds.

I suggest removing all the mod files and run a file integrity check from Library> Properties, just to be safe.
Then reinstall (or unZip, whatever form the mod is - I always prefer manual installation) the mod to the proper directories.

It also may be an issue if you run the "regular", non-Steam updated version - not sure.
AFAIK, Modern Combat needs the Steam Version, but I could be wrong.

Hope that helped. Mod is great, even has singleplayer campaign.
Sucks not to be able to play it :(

Well as i said i tried everything even the launch options, and you can't really install it incorrectly since it's only an extract files there and done.
This mod is a non working piece of ♥♥♥♥. A disaster.

Does it actually work without the mod?

I'm sure you have tried that as well.

But it's weird, because it was really easy.

Also, have you tried just redownloading the mod or, dumb as it sounds, used another extractor? Could be the archive is corrupted somehow.

I'm grasping at straws here, to be sure, but sillier things have happened.

Did you manage to get it working?

Sadly no, i deleted it a while ago. Company of heroes 1 takes up quite a lot of free space for a game that is refusing to work. I can get the vanila working but i played that game for ages, so i wanted something fresh with the mod.
All methods proved to be non working for me.

Make a shortcut of coh.exe and write "-applaunch 228200 -dev -mod ModernCombat" in target box similar to

"D:\Games\Steam Games\steamapps\common\Company of Heroes Relaunch\RelicCOH.exe" -applaunch 228200 -dev -mod ModernCombat"

Or try this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Wkyl2eUIx0

What if I want to play the original game, the New Steam Version, and I have changed the launch directory, so what do I do to be able to play again.

You've got to run bat file as an administrator. I had the same problem, when you run it as admin there's 2 minute delay and then it launches. It's really fun mod that's got some cool ♥♥♥♥.
