Can't record 60FPS 1080p
I have an R9 290x and I can only get 60FPS on 720p or lower. The card can handle 60FPS 1080p on other screen and game recorders. What is the reason for this?

I have an R9 290 and I record 60fps 1080p all day no issues yet.

Odd. After recording Action detects the file at 30fps or less even though I set it to 60fps or even 120fps. I'm hoping someone can suggest anything otherwise I'll probably have to end up refunding the software.

MP4 usually has it as Variable frame rate, so you may select 60 fps & get lower. try using AVI.

I always record in AVI because I found the MP4 quality to be too poor, then I use other software to reduce quality. I wish the MP4 option in Action worked as well as the export function in some other programs!

Aye, i'm hoping a future update will let you choose between constant & variable bitrates for MP4. & to let you manually set the quality instead of a 1 - 100 slider.

What other programs can you recommend with the 'export function' you are speaking of? I tried DXtory but that seems to stick to 15FPS no matter what settings I use, and Fraps seems to be the only software that actually works properly, but doesn't have enough features for me

I found Sony Movie Studio on Steam works absolutely amazing with Action recordings. I am a huge fan of Pinnacle Studio, I've used version 12 and 15 extensively, but I could not get it to work with even Pinnacle 18.5. Reason being is that Action uses an in-house FICV-encoded video type and although it would be nice if it worked with everything, it does not work at all. I bought Sony Movie Studio just because it MIGHT work, and it works perfectly without any issues! Just drag in your files and away you go! You can export your video using a limitless number of codecs, I swear there must be over 100. It's rediculous. I have no idea what any of them do. But you have to sort of make yourself a preset or two to make exporting a bit more smooth, basically you choose your desired settings and you can quickly just choose that upon exporting. When exporting into MP4, 1080p progressive, 60 fps, GPU-assisted MainConcept AVC/AAC, it looks like you are watching a blu-ray the quality is just fantastic, where as using the Action MP4-exporter I found the video to be grainy and unwatchable, but with Sony the filesize is almost exactly the same as Action. Of course, you have to export to a massive AVI file and then convert it down to MP4 with Sony, but at least Action gives you that super high quality video. BONUS POINTS go to Action for allowing of microphone audio to be exported to a second audio track. When you drag your video into Sony, you have dual audio tracks and you can adjust both of them independently as if they were 2 seperate files, but they are all contained in one video file. Somehow. It's magic, I swear. The Action to Sony workflow is very smooth and I would recommend it to anyone.

Here is a video I have done in that manner:

Technically speaking, I could upload a filesize which is much larger, and it would probably be even more clear. Sony also supports 4K video too! But I have a limited amount of upload bandwidth and I need my files to be around 1-2 GB max. So this is a high quality video yet it can be pushed further.

When it comes to Dxtory, it usually comes down to the Codec that you use, like lagarith, ffdshow, MagicYUV, utVideo. you can see which works best for you. It would be great if Action! allowed 3rd party codecs.

Yeah that would be amazing. Even if they were paid DLC, it would be nice to expand upon the already powerful toolset that Action is.

That shouldnt be paid... It should just be a new feature, hopefully soon.

I agree, it should be a new feature. I'm sure they will come up with something.

I'm actually using Bandicam now. I heard it was ♥♥♥♥ before but now surprisingly it's actually pretty good. With MP4 quality settings on the run that beats Action, Fraps, DXtory and any other game recorder I've seen by far

Dxtory only records in .AVI so I guess.

I would've been happy with that if it didn't lock my FPS to 15FPS for some reason (again no matter what settings I use, even if I change the codec as someone suggested above)
