Why Andrew Hulshult Music?
It's said that the new Kex version by Nightdive includes remixed music by a guy named Andrew Hulshult. I have to ask. Why didn't they use this instead? https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?t=27979&sid=b833a65a47e3fc9155343b7cf059aee7

It's fantastic stuff and what I use when I play the Ultimate Doom and Doom 2. Take a listen to the Map 31 (Wolfenstein) song for example. It'll send chills down your spine.

I don't like to answer questions with questions but, why not Hulshult? his IDKFA soundtrack is quite famous and been in the making for several years he says.

Because Hulshult worked with id already on the doom eternal dlc and because idkfa was a good album.

I'm torn on his soundtrack, I really am. Love the one for Doom I, because he elevated it without changing its sound. Some of these are legit the best recreations I have ever heard.

The Doom II soundtrack though, I just don't like. The tracks barely resemble the source material and I just hear Doom Eternal in it the whole time. Maybe that was intentional, but it just doesn't quite work.

I personally think the Doom II remixes are an improvement. The original Doom II soundtrack isn't bad, it's just I'm not a fan of how soft some of the tracks are. It's like listening to a bleak soft rock album.

As a fellow musician myself, I think Andrew did an amazing job on the soundtrack. Long live METAL!

He didn't include the harpsichord in Into Sandy's City. Frankly, that's unforgiveable.

Actually it is forgivable. It's not that big of a deal at all. You're over-exaggerating this issue.

I wonder why didn't ID Software reach out to Sonic Clang.

Yeah, he's good man. This video makes me wish there was a full remake 1 to 1 ratio made with the Doom 3 engine. That would be amazing.

Why not him?
Le Perv Aug 21, 2024 @ 4:23pm
He already made the music a decade ago they just included it with the new port.
It's not like they got him to make it just for this port.
Seamus Aug 21, 2024 @ 4:25pm
Pretty sure they did, actually. The IDKFA soundtrack was only Doom 1. This port includes new tracks for Doom 2.
