Please,start Heroes and generals through steam
This is the error window that pops up everytime I try to launch the game. I know servers are down now but I've had this issue since the last update and cant play. I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times now and checked everything and no luck. All my other games on steam work flawlessly. Sent a support ticket and they wanted a screenshot of the error window which makes no sense to me. I have seen other players in the forums with the same issue, so I know I'm not alone. The only fix some players had that I know of was to kill their steam client in task manager then restart but that method is not working. Any ideas?

Hello Ianlim99,

Have you tried a clean removal of the game and installing it again?

Also - Have you been in contact with Customer Support about this issue? (support.heroesandgenerals.com)

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the problem still persists. Only solution is to run the game from the installation folder but it's kinda troublesome to always do so.

I have not sent a support ticket, will do so now.

Hope that someone who has this problem can come up with a fix.

The only way I could fix mine was to restore my machine to factory settings. Then reinstall everything. Now I can play again.

i have had this issue for almost 3 weeks now. please, if anyone has a fix that doesn't require resetting the machine, let us know, thank you

Making sure you have completely remove all installs of HnG.
Run the Add/Remove tool in windows.
After that operation has finished, Reboot and do a manual search of your hard drive looking for anything related to HnG. Search, 'HnG' 'H&G' 'heroes + generals' etc. Delete everything you find.

Note: your primary target is this mess '%appdata%/../LocalLow/Heroes and Generals' and you should be able to find it by HD search 'Heroes and Generals'

Restart your computer. You should now be ready for a clean install.

Will try this soon, thanks. For now I have the standalone client installed and it runs fine.

Sounds like you got to do a disk check. You may have other programs that have corrupt files. That's what I would do before I rip out a game etc. The steam uploader works real well.
What OS you running ?

What solved this problem for me was to simply open the steam as Administrator
