Bad sound crackling

I'm experiencing an issue where my sound crackles in-game. It's very annoying. I'm assuming it's because I got a headset with surround sound and the game doesn't like surround sound. Any suggestions?

It's a razer kraken

I have a Logitech G430 which also has surround sound and I did have some slight cracking issues at one point but it doesn't happen anymore (not really sure how it was fixed. It was probably just a game bug that got fixed)

With Logitech there is a piece of software called "Logitech Gaming Software" that you can use to configure all logitech peripherals and this can be used to enable/disable and configure surround sound on my headset

Razer has something similar called "Razer Synapse" I don't have this so I don't know exactly what options are available for your headset but if it's anything like the Logitech one you should be able to disable surround sound and see of that makes a difference.
This might work as a temporary fix if the cracking is too annoying but no promises (as I said before I don't even know if Razer gives you the option to turn surround sound off)

Do you have a sound manager program that came with your computer? My motherboard (MSI) has realtek chipset and it comes with a Realtek HD audio manager. You might be able to change some settings with that like speaker config. Also you might try updating your drivers if they are out of date.

I do have realtek on my computer, but it doesn't recognize my headset as a device.

I'll play around with razer synapse and see if I can fix anything...

I managed to set the game sound to stereo in synapse and that fixed the problem - although the sound quality leaves much to be desired for now.

i also have same issue, planes and explosions crack on my bose acoustimass 10 V, waas fine before the update

*EDIT* messed around in settings, nothing seemed to help, even hooked up my old 2 speaker JBL speakers and it still crackling
