a few US main players I have talked to admit it is OP.
Not everyone with an M1/M2 produces results like this--most NEVER do. Something else is going on with your example.
I'm not going to jump into the argument if it is the best weapon in the game or the second best, but remember this: One weapon has to be the best. If you are the type of gamer that needs 'The best weapon' to play the game then decide what the best weapon is and play it.
Ironically, I wish the M1/M2 carbine would be removed from the game, but not because it is Over-Powered. I wish it were removed because in-game it is too popular. The BAR was the iconic support weapon of WWII U.S. infantry squads--Not a pistol caliber based carbine. And certainly not a 30 round banana clip.
And they are 2 totally different weapon classes. Firing on the move with MG 42 is about useless... etc.
But that's not my point. The point is that every single thread about the fabled M1/M2 in this game always deteriorates into a back and forth about the MG 42.
Sometimes Mice, I think this game would be far better suited just having BA's, SMG's and SA's. Nothing else.
Show me a guy on the US side that still uses a Tommy and I'll show you a leprechaun.
Seriously though, I know there are some that still do (me included), but what's the point once you've unlocked the M1/M2?
This gun deserves the nerf, unlike the PPS needed the nerf, It was a tier three SMG and it was "outperforming its counterparts", but name another Tier 3 SMG in the game.
However, the M1/M2 IS outperforming its counterparts, Me with my max damage AVS (3HK) at 600 RPM has a lot of trouble killing a unknown modded M1/M2 at near or medium range.
A lot of trouble is also known as 7 times out of 10 he with the M1/M2 wins.
I sometimes calculate my "kills per hour" with all my different infantry weapons. I have been riding on about 51 kills per hour with my MG42 guy. No doubt the MG 42 is a nasty weapon both close up and at longer ranges... IF you are in a good position. My main German uses the MG42. 51 kills per hour.
I now have a character on US thats lvl 11 and he has the M1/M2. 65 kills per hour. My MG42 guy has heavy set gold too. My M1/M2 guy is still at silver.
Some of that I attribute to my playing ability has gotten better than I was when I first started using the MG 42, but it's still a pretty large difference. Also my M1/M2 kills per hour FAR outnumbers any other weapon I use in this game.
Take it for what it is. I'm not saying this holds true for everyone, but it's my data from my profile.
My solution to this would be to remove the sights of the m1919, or make 1918 better. Then get rid of the M1/M2 and all the other "assault rifles".
Also if you mod the M1/M2 to 1028 rpm it is extremely hard to hit medium distance making it almost identical to the PPSH in comparison
Agreed, but unfortunately due to the fact that every Tom, Richard and Harry gets a motorized vehicle almost as soon as they get their helmet handed to them in this game, 85% of all combat is CQC. This makes the M1/M2 the holy grail of small arms.
The thompson has a much, much tighter cone of fire which means you are more likely to hit your target with your rounds when you hipfire. Of course some say that this can also be done by using TGG while using the carbine, but if you are using LMG badge to be able to control the carbine it shows how unstable and inaccurate it is. Really, where you can M1/m2 well in assualt role, it's sucks in any midrange engagement without the right modds and badge, than it just becomes average, where the Mg42 and Stg are much better at mid range and defensive play.
you cant do that with the STG44 or AVS they share number of equipment slots with LMGs
Yeah, I still have no idea what kind of logic Reto used to allow it to be less slots than the STG or AVS and also be able to carry 330 rounds of ammo in one pouch.
