The REALITY is that tanks in WW2 drove right into combat.. however, in REALITY Bazooka's and so on don't destroy King Tigers, and ontop of that not every single soldier on the battlefield had AT. (The Panzer Elite had Fausts but thats besides the point) In this game you should treat your tank more modern MBT.... that is to say, Sit back and provide excellent artillery support if the conditions allow for it. I usually do really well.
Kursk. Alone that single word defeats your entire statement.
But you still remember that this is a game and not reality, right? Nothing in here has equal stats to it it´s reality counterparts. This game creates sessions with heavy tanks and some infantry and tells you to take a town while inside infantry and pershing holding a church and a police station. And you will stand outside on a distance in howitzer mode with your precious little tanky beeing the most useless unit ever seen ingame.
Tigers where not made for town fights, thats clear, but if infantry can damage it quick with bazooka and sticky nades in this game i want to be able to maneuver it more quickly to support my troops, and not that my troops have to support me to stay alive for not to capture anything!
but by all means, keep em coming. i could do with the easy tank destruction ribbons.
if you use a tank team in a battle, are you, as the owner, guaranteed a slot if you want to play tanker?
Drove right into combat as in they were not forced to sit in the very far back as we are in this game due to planes, unrealistic bazookas and stuff like that. I did not say "They drove right into enemy fire and took AT Guns and so on the face like a champion and kept on going".
This game went to great lenghts to limit and balance tanks, and then just let anti-tank weapons and infantry go freely. What happens is that usually the few tanks available in a match get swarmed by rockets and kamikaze jeep with sticky bombs. And no, they cannot be guarded by infantry, because infantry has better things to do. Like actually cap objectives. You cannot ask infantry to babysit tanks. No one will ever set for that. The simple fact that there is an AT-infantry assault team in the game, but is no different from regular infantry, is enough to tell something is off. Let AT infantry do their job and prevent regular infantry from covering the same role.
Driving a tank into a city with narrow streets is just stupid. Probably the worst use for a tank i could think of. In real life, a tank in a city can be ambushed everywhere, from corners, windows, etc. In this game, a tank in a city can be ambushed in every corner by infantry with stickies or bazookas.
You really need to improve your tank tactics.
And you need to understand that this is a GAME and that it is often creating stupid unit combinations.
And you should read the rest of the topic and not only stick on one of the first posts, we already got further that it´s about maneuverability. In it´s current state med and heavy tanks are that way slow that you even don´t need to get an idea of driving into a town cause you are insta-fragged by infantry on bikes/jeeps with bazooka/stickys even outside of anywhere due to the immovability of the tanks.
Currently you stand somewhere at the border, can´t support anywhere and after a short while you just hear the sound of something getting sticked at your back. At this point you don´t even need to try to turn around or anything else, you are done.
The ammount of infantry simply using jeeps and bazookas/sticky nades has dramatically increased the last weeks and makes tank driving not that much in it´s current state.
