War Mode Noob
Good evening, I'm an Australian gamer that plays H&G. Typically I don't play war mode as I never get into a game, due to my location, but it was just today that I did, for my first time.

Initially I freaked out, I was in a US team, with a mere 200 infantry units, 15 recon, and that was it. No vehicles, nothing. I was against the SU which had 2.7K infantry, and literally every other possible unit and vehicle available and plentiful. Accompanied with 200 ping, and a US team I assumed to be retarded due to my experiences in staged battles, I had many doubts in my mind and believed I was down for a loss.

However, It seemed that despite everything I thought, the result was completely different.

My team quickly rushed the point, not one person ran off to play 'Bush Fairy'. One after the other we took the points until we reached 01. I took up position in a house with an open view of a field. So while the thought of my team being bad had left, I then doubted my ability to hit anything with my latency, and thus let my team down as the only recon. Again, to my amazement, this was not so. I managed to rack up about 12 kills without dying before it was time for me to move up and take the point, knowing id successfully cleared the outskirts. Then I climbed the tower to perch on top of the church. With an excellent view of the enemies route to the final point, it was easy to pick off any assailants of the point, and as a result, the game was won despite all odds.

This was a great experience for me, winning against all odds.

So that's my little story, but it leaves me with some questions, as id like to continue playing war.

1. Why did the SU have so many resources that game? I get that people can send resources in an rts type thing, but that amount was just overkill.

2. How does sending resources work? Do you buy them and then send them to a battle?

3. What determines when a battle starts?

4. What happens to the resources left over in a battle?

5. Is there any definite way to win a war, besides real player battles?

6. Is there a benefit to playing the rts side of the game?

7. Should I be contributing in any other way as a normal player?

Thanks in advance. Any extra or interesting information is more than welcome.

1. SU Commanders and Generals sent more of their AT's into that certain battle than the US ones.

2. You do not send resources, you send assault teams which ARE the resources.
You have to buy an assault team once you have a level 12 character and then deploy it to a major town, once you deploy the team you can left click drag the icon from the right to whichever place you want the assault team to go, if there is a shining circle around a place it means there's a battle.

3. There must be Assault Teams from both factions in one place, and then players will start joining.

4. The commanders or generals get left over resources in their AT's, they can resupply their AT's after battle and send them to fight again.

5. Capturing 15 major cities.

6. Not that i know of, unless you find it fun then that's a benefit.

7. Playing war mode and not wasting resources, just capture and kill off any enemies you see.

AT = assault team

1. some people send up to 12k AT's just in hopes of xp from winning or warfunds. important battles get more AT's sent into them and 2,7 is only meh.

2. exactly, and leveling up your soldier to ranks 12-17 gives you command points, enabling you to purchase AT's

3. over 216 infantry units and enough people on both sides

4. if you win, they stay in the captured city. if you lose, they split up on the roads from the city. ex. 3 available roads, 33% of AT's on each

5. 15 capitals or 1/3 factions wiped out

another way of winning a battle is autoresolving. practically battle with more than 216 inf lasts for an hour if not started, and the faction with more resources wins it.

6. more xp, warfunds, more friends and maybe even clans, sense of accomplishment and less planes :-)

7. destroying tanks, apc's and pretty much any vehicles is helpful, while asking the people in battle if they own any AT's and wish to have a certain goal. ex. if there are planes and you have an aux seat, ask before you spawn

every AT is bought and paid for by a player and its good to ask around.

1. There are some Generals with 10k+ units, who often move them only into a few cities to force an auto-resolve. If a game doesn't start for 1h 5min, the team with the most resources wins without a fight.
Since you probably play at a time when little people are online, it's also the time, when huge generals try to auto resolve most battles.

2. Every soldier over rank 12 has command-points, that enable him to ewuip ATs. ATs can be bought for warfunds. They get experience for every battle they are in and can be upgraded after some time, get bigger, more powerful it get extra vehicles, but need more command-points. While normal officers only can hold ATs if their own class, Generals can equip all classes of ATs.

3. A battle starts, when both teams have enough Inf tickets to spawn 21 times (220 Inf spawns). Some other classes can open battles aswell, there are calculators online, where you can look up, if a battle is "fun" (ready to be played).
When a battle is first initiated, you have 10 minutes to move your ATs in to make it fun.

4. The resources that are left over can be moved again, once they leave the battle, but they lose morale for every time they are used ( 100 max, 10 loss for a win, 20+ loss for a lost game). When the morale gets below 20, they will surrender as soon as they enter a battle again. You can let them rest anywhere save for them to slowly regain morale.

5. Wars are mostly won by communication and auto resolve at the moment. The US and SU are pretty good, since their clans are well coordinated and they get ATs, where they are needed. So they get to the capitols fast and without too many losses.

6. First up: Your ATs give the soldier XP, when they are used well in the FPS. To get to rank 16 and above, that's the best way to lvl up.
Further, they earn warfunds, when used well in battle, which you need to put your ATs into action, to upgarde them, to buy new ATs or to rename ATs.

7. If you enjoy playing war and want to get better, it's always good to get into contact with a clan and buy ATs.
Even if you don't want to join them, you can coordinate where your troops move and make sure, they are used by good players. You will make good warfunds and xp that way.
