^This. AVS is the best 1v1 rifle due to its unmatched dps, but the StG can mow down 3 to 4 people once you get really good with it. M1/M2 is just a hipfire obj weapon, but it's light enough to go in with a Garand too.
AVS is the best CQC AR with M1M2 but AVS is better on mid range than M1M2
M1M2 ^
But AVS and M1M2 are pure headshot maker
StG if you plan in taking out more people with a mag.
Anyway,
M1/M2 is a CQC monster, it has a huge rof and is one hit kill with headshot, however it lacks range and is quite pricy to repair (note, all assault rifles cost the same to fire, which is around 0.35 Cr per shot).
StG is a Jack of all trades, master of none. You can use it in almost any situation, however will not be very good against , for example , in CQC against a M1/M2
AVS is a close-mid range monster. It has 15 mags and a decently powerfull recoil, however those are the only downsides of it. It has good damage, awesome ROF and good range and accuracy (the most accurate automatic weapon in the game).
But it all comes down to preference I suppose.
STG is so easy to use, but is no match for the other automatic weapons you encounter in War: 1919, Johnson, AVS, M2 Carbine, DP28 (unless of course the mods are messed up. Something I encounter with the DP28 every now and then)
The STG mods do not grant a useful increase in rof or damage, so maybe only ammo and/or sights (not scope) . That of course makes it cheap to use with just 1 mod compared to the maxed modded other weapons.
(as said, because the STG mods offer a terrible low bonus!)
Stg like all said its an allrounder, I am not the biggest fan of it but I played it for a while and its okay
but to the M1/M2 I must say its just trash in my view, low damage, not accurate, losing credits as soon I put mods on, yeah sure the high fire rate is great, but I waste like most shots before I hit anything
so thats all I have to say
Out of the three assault rifles I like my AVS the most because it feels like the most controllable and accurate and that fits my playstyle the most. The other two aren't worse in my opinion, they are just different and not really my style. Hard to describe but they feel more RNG and clunky to me. More heavy on the sway and recoil and less accurate at range compared to the AVS.
Unfortunately as GE you don't really have an alternative to the versatility of the STG so that's what I use mostly as GE although I actually hate the gun at the moment and as US I usually use an M1918 which is similarly modded to my AVS (mainly accuracy) and enjoyable to use.

Which version? Lol
The mods cost all the same to maintain plus AVS has more expensive ammo options!
Even if one really mods-out his STG the low RoF means it will always be cheaper than an AVS because of fewer bullets per second.
While they have the same repair costs, I tend to pay less to repair the AVS. Mainly because you cannot spray that much with 15 bullets, and you kill the enemy faster (better rof + better damage + better accuracy).
