Problem running serious sam or any OpenGL game
Hello,I seem to have a problem with Serious Sam or any OpenGl applications.They flat-out crash.Here's how I went.
I recently reinstalled windows,because I had a problem with a malware.So everything worked out fine,untill today I tried Original Half-Life.Crashes.Google'd it,some solutions from 2011 for Linux.I try Serious Sam:Revolution I have a "Don't Send"error upon entering the game.I Google about OpenGL programs not working for my AMD card.All I see is some results from 2011 to install those now outdated drivers.

My specs are:
AMD FX 8320 3.5 GHz
2X4 DDR3 1600MHz RAM
ASUS Direct CUII AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB GDDR5 (Latest Drivers)
Windows 10 with latest updates.

Things I tried
Reinstalling drivers (uninstall,reboot,install,reboot)
Reinstalling Windows.
Looking endlessly on Googele.
Tech Support with AMD.(no response yet)

I installed Windows from Microsoft's site.

AMD has some issues with OpenGL and their older graphics cards for some reason, the only solution we've found so far are those outdated drivers you mention.

I think the newer AMD cards don't have this problem. This is definitely something you'd want to address to AMD support, and hope they have an interesting answer.

Do let me know if they reply! I'd be interested in a better solution.

The thing is.It worked flawlessly before.Untill I installed the new Windows.Then it all went to ♥♥♥♥.I reached out to AMD for this problem.Will see,how it goes.But,HD 7850 is not that old.Even the GeForce 4 didn't have this.

Well, AMD and Nvidia (GeForce) are separate :)

It seems to be a combination of modern AMD drivers and older AMD cards that causes this issue.

Problem solved by itself.Weird.Did a reinstall anyway and everything's back to normal.

No file to be found there.But,SS is not the problem,it happens with some other OpenGL games too,but now,some games do work,some don't.

Weird that there is no mdmp file. That could also indicate that a crash is originating from inside the video drivers.

If you ask me, I'd always suggest Nvidia cards. :)

And the problem is gone again,I installed Beta drivers for the GPU,didn't work.Tried to play Windowed mode Quake 2 on Software,worked,switched to opengl,worked.Went on to serious sam and it was working.


that's the weirdest fix that i've ever done.
