Serious Sam: First Encounter and Serious Sam: Second Encounter, which nowadays are named
Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter and Serious Sam Classic: The Second Encounter
Next came cartoony http://store.steampowered.com/app/204340/
Next logically should be Serious Sam 3, but instead developers rereleased old games on new engine http://store.steampowered.com/app/41000/ and http://store.steampowered.com/app/41014/
They had basically all the same levels and enemies with better graphics, but due to new engine limitations lacked special gravity effects.
Next came http://store.steampowered.com/app/41070/ which is direct prequel to the First Encounter.
Some time later http://store.steampowered.com/app/227780/ was released, which is basically two first Classic Encounters.
All above mentioned games excluding Revolutions were devloped by Croteam. There are also third-party http://store.steampowered.com/app/111600/ and http://store.steampowered.com/app/201480/
Story-wise you should play any First Encounter, any Second Encounter(or both of them in Revolutions), then Serious Sam 2, Serious Sam 3 BFE(Before the First Encounter).
the complete pack inclubes them all, but it deosn't seem neccisary
I'd play the original classics, which are both included in the revolutions version. For some reason I didn't like the HD remakes as much - but that's probably because I got used to the original games mechanics/movement\gravity/visuals and such.
If you enjoy them a lot you can check out the HD versions afterwards
the plot isn't exactly gripping or important lol
