This is just as a warning to any straight dude who may fall for the wifu skins they've been shilling out to get any horny guys to spend money, they haven't really updated their tech demo in like the last 3 years. Also I've been witness to "Grummz" a.k.a Mark bullying someone into playing his tech demo live in front of his discord server, starting to put words in the person's mouth, claiming they said fan games have as much as his tech demo does in it and just being very very aggressive about it. That person was also on the spectrum, and were just asking if there was more than just sex appeal images because if not it feels like a scam to them.

There's a stark difference of good and bad devs, and a good dev wouldn't publicly shame and berate someone like I saw happen, and yes I can absolutely procure screenshots of it.

Although this post is also me just getting frustration off my chest, because I fell for the scam as I actually wanted Em8er to progress and succeed, the point of progress hasn't changed in 3 years, and all Grummz does is ping for giveaways to skins in his discord or for those who still believe he's doing work to join a call to talk about the future features that never come. and it's been "worked" on for even longer than that.

I'm just mad and disappointed, especially since a lot of those faithful people are just horndog dudes who are exited by the idea of playing a barely clothed woman in a mech (there have been next to zero male skins, it's been all women with tits almost fully out or super skin tight suits)

Yeah, I dipped out of Em8er as soon as it became clear it's nothing more than cash grab using sex-appeal to hook people in & sell them skins for a game that doesn't exist and probably won't exist.

I'm not a prude or anything, but sex-appeal isn't the reason I or anyone else played Firefall after all, given the fact that Firefall didn't have any big booba anime girls. Even if Em8er does actually release sometime down the line, it's definitely no longer a "Firefall spiritual successor" like it was originally described to be.

The only criticism I have heard of it in the years it's been worked on is people being offended by the commissioned art. Often backhanded or implicit or "I'm not a prude, BUT." Every criticism I've seen revolves around being offended by women's bodies and using language shaming people who aren't. It's the only thing y'all say

I went to check it out again a few weeks ago, and I saw a post by mark claiming that anyone who bypassed a ban by making a new account would be reported to the FBI.. like wtf? No wonder firefall died that dude is LITERALLY retarded

You're misunderstanding the criticism then.

It's been about 5 years since Em8er's first pre-alpha prototype was released, and there hasn't been any gameplay updates since. That alone, I have no problem with - I'm happy to wait as long as it takes for a game's development to complete.
But that's the thing - their priority has shifted hard from "develop the game" to "sell people in-game items", for a game that doesn't exist. How do you get people to buy into this? Easy - sell sex appeal. Always works. Practically everyone is into it.

That's what I don't like. Em8er is taking advantage of the fact that sex sells to get people to spend their money on nothing. There is no game. People are buying the possibility of seeing sexy characters in a vague medium that might exist in an unknown number of years in the future. This wouldn't work if they tried to sell anything else.

"It's the only thing y'all say" because it's the only thing Em8er has been marketing lately. If I wanted what they're marketing, then there's plenty of porn on the internet I could go to. I'm looking for an actual game to play, however.

He sold me a kickstarter tier valued at $10,000 early. He then blacklisted me after getting the money. If that tier is not honored, his campaign will open with him getting served and the entire internet knowing it is happening.

tbh I just found a 4 year old (maybe olderer) kaiju concept that was displayed when I joined the discord originally. I remember maybe 1 other monster concept pinged for, otherwise it was never anything about game mechanics. just skins this skins that, we're working on mounts, and then skins for those mounts, more skins, more skins (these are all women with revealing clothing or straight up battlesuit thongs). The demo felt tossed together last minute when I tried it, and then not stopping by because there was nothing but skins and no content. You can't be *working* on a game and every demo shown in the discord looks like... the exact same flying around shooting into nothingness and claiming "I made the particle and gun system better", proceeding to shoot weak blasts and flying again.


He doesn't have a plan. He made a promise with no actual plan.
