Play as Max and have the character upgrade that lets you start with your Ult at 100% just put a couple Ice Ballistas near the Rift, wait for him around a corner, he'll come to you. Then pop your Ult and destroy him while he's frozen. He'll die super quick and won't be able to do anything.
OR
Play as Vaan and have a killbox set up that you can lure him to. When he gets close to coming through it, just pop your Rift Orb on the nearby traps, go around a corner so he can't shoot you and the traps will take most of his health away if not outright kill him.
Pop your head out to stop him in the killbox if he's running through it too fast.
He takes like 3 seconds to line up his sniper shot so just go back around the corner to avoid it.
My strategy has been to ignore the boss entirely and just focus on clearing the wave. Once the wave is done, only the boss remains. Bosses are also vulnerable to status effects so things like freezing traps work wonders.
Also, there's a 2000 skull perk that does +50% dmg to bosses from War Mages. It's worth getting.
Edit: if corners are too far then you need a better killbox spot.
its a bug, he acidentally yeets through a roof, through the ground and dies, they are working on it.
It's in the second attempt as four players where we had the 0 HP boss bug. Thanks to Zouls' reply, I see that the boss wasn't even present in that attempt. It's the enemy wave that got us again, even though we made a much better killbox. Now that I have read all posts in this discussion, I will use that knowledge for future attempts.
i got pretty bombarded by trolls and ogres in that fight more so than the boss, so its definitely one where you want to be able to deal with chunky enemies, i like the rift underground cause you can just barricade so they all go up the right rightmost door when looking from the rift into the wall (cant remember, north maybe) and then make a killbox outside.
Yeah, that pretty much describes our own experience with that wave xD We will take better account for the bigger enemies.
It's actually a bug. If you play MP he will instantly die after his intro.
