Bug - Auto Ballista's not shooting
So ever since the last big patch ( though still happened before hand) its become quite noticeable that Ballista class of traps are having misfire issues is its looks like its trying to shoot but it just lets out a puff of smoke and then goes back to spinning so I figured i would make a post about how if seen it .
In no particular order of notes for this issue, there may be more and this is not all inclusive.

1. seems to require that there be more than 10 total ballista types on the field....... Ceiling\
2. does not matter if they are clumped up or spread around the map
3. affects all three types though most noticeable on the auto-ballista,
4. ballista’s in general seem more inaccurate, pre patch a line of 6-10 auto-Ballista had a reliable chance to stop a pack of runners, now they might take out 2-3.
5. Ballista’s also seem able to target none visible entities and then shoot the walls
6. Ballista’s will seem to target above themselves and shoot
7. Issue seems to occur much more frequently when you have used a thread to adjust there targets ( IE anti air or anti Big guy)

Dont have your hopes high up for this particular bug fix, OMD franchise is notorious for having a terrible IA regarding "aim traps" (balllistas and archers guardians).

To this day, at OMD 3, all archers guardians stop shooting around wave 20 or 30 in Endless Mode, because there is a bug regarding the IA targeting aim and the increased move speed buff of orcs in Endless Mode.

Afaik the work around is completing the mission and quicksaving and then loading the quicksave. There is supposed to be a bug fix patch this week so let's hope
Same thing on xbox, theres no way of stopping flyers on the x2 difficulty, as they just don’t care and fly through (ballistas don’t work at all)

They'll still trigger wall and ceiling traps in range otherwise use steam vents if you can't personally deal with them.

OMD wouldn't be the same if a ballista trap wasn't broken

It seems the same as the other games, the more you put touching each other the worse they are - spread them out

Steam traps? Man I never actually tried them. How do they do (in brief)
I mean it’s easy to stop an army by my favorite saw discs (or how is it called in English), but those damn flyers…. Especially on those maps where you have to be in 1 place and the portal’s in the ass
I miss the dart sprayer anyways… with the cold buff - such a beast trap

If the Portal is in the ass, seek medical help - especially if saw blades are involved
