As their supplies dwindles, they've got to improvise to survive. That's the reason why their armor and weapons have become so makeshift and cobbled together: they're scraping scraping together whatever they can.
I understand the lore reason, I’m just disappointed. The world building, the ambiance, the overall feel of control was SO good. It struck the perfect balance of being scary and funny. This just feels like they’re throwing all of that world building away with bright, chromatic coloring and goofy armor and weapons. Control felt grounded. This just feels like every other shooter game in 2025. I’ll probably still pick this game up, but I’m just… disappointed. The little teasers we got for project condor looked awesome. This looks generic. It feels like wasted potential.
The way it currently stands it looks like their loadouts came straight from the Panopticon which I find very compelling.
But I do agree with you to an extent, the original showcase for the 'Condor' looked really sweet, I thought it would be more grounded. I'm guessing they might've wanted to avoid resembling Helldivers too much, in a sense that you're running around as a paramilitary unit. There's still a chance that the gear sets we've seen in the original showcases make it through. They were still 'out there' as far as gear goes but it looked more grounded.
Otherwise I don't see how even the current itteration looks like every other shooter. On the contrary, it stands out. I'm not sure how you can take the current material and call it generic when it's the exact opposite of generic.
I would argue that the original itteration was far more in line with the modern shooters such as Ready Or Not, Darktide, ♥♥♥♥ even Rainbow Six Extraction etc and looked far more generic. The world looks the same as it did in Control, the weaponry and gear are goofy but it's panopticon gear.
