AI randomly surrendering?
I have not played in a very long time (probably years) and have just had 2 different games effectively ruined because an AI opponent randomly ups and surrenders out of nowhere, even before having any direct contact with them...

Somehow, they even gave over their planets when I had already turned this off the first time...

Is this a known issue, and how do I prevent this short of disabling surrender entirely?

Another way to handle the AI surrendering is put all the AI in the same team. It becomes you against the entire galaxy. This makes for some great battles.

This thread is so far derailed. There is no getting it back on track. It should be locked to prevent the argument from continuing.

I have not yet seen the OP offer up any thing constructive, a suggestion or any constructive solution to resolve what his problem is other than an angry rant, profane criticism with unproductive diatribe that isn't helpful to his problem.

Lock this post and stop the argument and let this post die. It's a dead horse being beaten at this point.

Really?

* You made false accusations.

* You screamed and yelled at everyone else using bold type and caps.

* You used profanity.

*You haven't even tried to discuss this respectfully even when others were being respectful towards you

* You startled the insults insinuating our answers and explanations were stupid, obtuse, white knighting and we're clowns.

* You have been blantantly disrespectful and insulting throughout this entire thread. Then play victim when it's thrown back in your face in retaliation.

The only thing you accomplished is proving beyond a doubt you are a bitter unreasonable person who is incapable of having a civilized and respectful discussion without turning it into a fight. Apparently your ego is so inflated and fragile you just can't take responsibility for your bad behavior and your nasty bad attitude.

Holy moly, your sense of entitlement is mind boggling. You are a real piece of work. 🤦‍♂️ No I'm not the hypocrite here. YOU ARE!

The only reason I keep responding is because you keep derailing it further by continuing to egg on this whole stupid argument. This entire thread has been nothing but trolling bait from a troll.

Ok you got me. I fell for it. I got a 24 hour ban. Are you happy now??? I hope you feel really good about yourself.

This thread is so derailed. There is no getting it back on track. It should be locked to end this stupid ridiculous argument YOU started.

You both set the tone here with your condescending lecturing as if I was too dumb to understand that mechanics I explained why I felt were broken, were broken...

And yes, when frustrated at the fact I was getting shot gunned, obtuse, pompous responses I emphasised why I thought it was broken because you were clearly failing to listen, instead just lecturing further about why I was simply wrong, and trying to justify it with utterly ridiculous notions and analogies, I used caps, bolding, and even h3 to try and get my point to sink through your blinding ignorance...

Where have I sworn? As an Australian, it's pretty much part of the vernacular here, but I don't believe I have... So now you're just making things up...

On that note, I will say it's a perfect example of how utterly full of crap you've been from the start, actively inflaming the situation, and becoming so agitated you lost your crap... Yet here I still am, nothing more than, at worst, frustrated... *shrug* And through all that you pretend to play some victim... :steamfacepalm:

The difference between you and me is that I'm not pretending to hold any moral high ground, unlike yourself...

You can stop responding when ever you like.. Unsub from the thread, add me to your block list, go outside and touch grass, you seem like you need some time away from your computer anyway because it's really quite amusing that you keep accusing me of being in a rage, whilst every recent post from you has been verging on an unhinged rant... :steamfacepalm:

So like I said, Unsub, block me, go touch grass...

Me on the other hand am gonna stick around as my entire premise from the start, a premise I still maintain, despite your insinuations otherwise, is that an AI that surrenders to the player with no diplomatic contact is a broken mechanics...

Since you seem to like making analogies, here's an historical one for you... What happened would be like the Aztecs surrendering to Spain, before Columbus even set sail... :steamfacepalm:

Could be interesting, still been learning the ins and outs for the moment, so might be something to consider later...

I also think I'd have to reduce the AI count a little as I don't like my chances at 14-to-1...

To pull this off you need to create your own map and use your starting position in a corner. So you are not surrounded and all enemies are in front of you. Its actually quite fun. Sometimes i win and sometimes i get beat down. Especially on the higher difficulties.

Yeah guess that could work, as it limits the front line is it were... Maybe something to consider...

Think I've got the basics squared away for now, and just trying to figure out the best way to min-max everything...

Already figured out this is absolutely one of those 4X games where you want your planets to be specialised, and not generalists, so just figuring out the best ways to do that...

Then I might look at scenarios like this, if I'm still playing by then...

Ruin, I feel your pain, and you are absolutely right. It all started a few patches ago. Now, every single game around turn 100, about 1/3 or 1/2 of the AIs just up and quit for no reason. I don't know why stupid stardock added this "feature". Maybe it was to make us all want to move to Gal Civ 4.
I don't want to turn Surrender off, since I like that feature when a civ actually gets beat down and has almost nothing left; but to just surrender because its turn 100 is totally stupid.
If this is the best Stardock can do, I would certainly NEVER move to Gal Civ 4, which is just another iteration of the same game. Gal Civ 3 should have been finished and completely debugged before they moved on to 4. Instead, they just threw up their hands and started over yet again.

Someone mentioned, somewhere, about updating to the Beta patch... That fixed the issue for me...

Rather ironic really... All the arguing, when the two clowns in this thread could have just recommended that from the beginning, rather than trying to convince me obviously broken mechanics were not broken, when they were indeed broken -- and even the devs knew it...

Oh so you also didn't pay attention to the game screen BEFORE playing? Clearly your inattentiveness is Stardock's problem :steamfacepalm:

Here's a tip - turn off surrendering. Playing a game now - no surrendering. Can you guess what happened at turn 100? NO SURRENDERING - amazing. So just like the posts (other than mine and Airmasters)

TOTAL CONFIRMATION BIAS.

You absolute raging ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hypocrite talking about confirmation bias... You're still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wrong you absolute clown...

The Beta patch fixed my issues... NOT turning off surrrendering!

I can play with surrendering turned on with the Beta patch...

Here's a tip, read the posts before you comment and demonstrate your clownish confirmation bias... :steamfacepalm:

Yep read your rubbish

So you can beta patch all you want - but the solution to to your non-problem already in the game

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink

Oh, FFS... You absolute raging ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hypocrite... Talking about confirmation bias, when you're still stone cold wrong... But, here you are again, going back at it, pretending to be right...

I can play with surrendering TURNED ON, when updated to the Beta patch...

That means even the Dev team know it's broken, but for some reason left it as it was, white knighting gimps like you, probably...

Time for you to unsubscribe and move on...

Pretending mechanics aren't broken is not a solution you absolute raving idiot... *facepalm*

If you're gonna lead a horse to water, better make sure it's actually water, and not a urinal...

Says the dumbarse who wants to go for round two on a match he lost the first time... Especially now that I know it's broken... *facepalm*

Hate to butt in at this point. But from this post, it's kinda obvious you never played the previous iteration either. AI surrendering to you out of the blue, WITHOUT meeting you was something that happened SOMETIMES. Does it happen every game? No. Does it happen? Yes it does.

And since it's the same developers responsible, I take it as something normal if it were to happen again. Which apparently it does, judging by your post.

Yes, it caught me off guard the first few times.

Do I get upset about it? Nope. It's a game, with limitations. It's not yet at the realistic level. If it ever reaches the realistic level, you'd be sure it won't be sold for public consumption coz it'll be used as a materiel for commander training in the armies.

Seriously, this whole thread is hilarious. From you raging to the other posters response towards you. Hilarious, all of it.
