Selecting Tech Tree in Civilazation Builder
I can't find the option in the new civ builder to select which tech tree I want to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I thought it was based on your lifeform type and various traits you picked. I don't think there was a tree selection like galciv II had.

There was in the base game but not with the newexpansion pack.

Radagar is correct -- in Crusade, your traits determine your tech tree.

P.Shaw that you for your reply. Honestly, I liked being able to select a base tech tree. I have tried several traits and haven't found the traits that give me the techs from the tree i used to use. I feel this is an oversight on the game. While I haven't tested every option, I don't like that unless you use specific traits that you just have the basic tech tree with no customization available. I feel this forces the player to use just those traits to have an interesting tech tree at all. The player can only have 2 traits so this limits your choices. I liked being able to select a race as my basic tech tree and then using traits to modify it some.

I would love to see a tech tree editor built into the civ editor. For balance, maybe you could only pick a certian number of the speciality techs from the various races. I honestly like custom building my civ while each of the prebuilt civs are cool I like tweeking various things about them. I love some of the new aspects of the crusade expansion pack but not being able to select a base tech tree is very annoying to me.

I certainly have to agree here. It would be great if we had a breakdown of what traits go with what tech tree. So far there has been no documentation on this and picking a traits has been hit and miss to get the right tech tree for your race.

Please, can we get a breakdown of what traits serve what tech trees.

The tool tips are certainly not very helpful in this respect. Also, my experience is that silicon finds promethium much tastier than the durantium specified under race type->silicon.

More on the meta side, digging through the AbilityDefs.xml file - the file that defines all the traits - does nothing for the tech tree. It gives you the passive bonuses (called "Mods" or "Triggers" depending on how they function; like a "Mod" to give +20% Resistance or a "Trigger" to instantly award you a specific tech), but nothing about expanding the actual tech tree.

I saw that...it tells what techs go with what traits, but does not tell me how to adjust those techs from the AbilityDefs file. Also there is no "MasterTechsDef" file.
