Where is the demo/trial?
Before I pay full price for a product I would like to test it first. I have hardly bought a game without demo/trial for many years.

Waiting for that too. At least one campaignmission or something like that to test it out.

I would say if you like grand strategy games then consider picking this up as it's polish is very high and while theres some balance issues (trebuchets are almost 2 tiers above their station due to mechanics) and slight bugs with AI pathfinding on the strategic map (sometimes decides to try to go through mountains or other rough terrain for no reason) they don't really take away from the overall gameplay and the multiplayer is stable and much more interesting than Civ5 multiplayer.

I like to play Civ5 for the singleplayer "one more turn" gamplay based around progression and AoW3 for it's high level strategy and complex battle focused war gameplay.

Worst comes to worst you can always "Set Sail" and try it out that way but with the multiplayer being so good and the game itself being well made and with love and care I'd suggest risking your £30 on this, it's a safer bet than many.

It's actually one of the few games where I feel that putting out a demo wouldn't be a foolish idea. :)

I've become very wary of buying new games at release for the full price, but AoW3 didn't disappoint. It's very playable, highly addictive, and "not annoying". I think a demo version would definitely be in the game's favor, because it doesn't have to hide. One of the few games in recent years that didn't feel like a beta when I bought it in the first month.

There are some "issues", like the relative ease of getting and maintaining tier-4 units, but the devs mentioned that this will be addressed in the next patch. My one other problem is that the game doesn't yet have Tigrans! I hope we'll see them in future DLC or an expansion. :)

I support a demo or trial run(free weekend deal or w/e).

As I already have games of similar concept(first and foremost, FE:LH), I would like to be confirmed that I am actually getting something new and "worth" the investment, and not something that is very close to what I already got(I dont think it is, but it is hard to tell without actually trying it).

Also, it would help people who are unsure if their systems can handle the game. If they can handle a demo, they are much more inclined to buy the full game.

Yeah the tigran disappearance is weird even in the cannon, I'd be interested in hearing what their story was with that.

the only reason i want a demo is to test if i can run it.i would already have bought the game if i was sure i could.

Read the rest of these forums first - you may get a better idea of the pros and cons of this title, Xintar.

Reading forums and watching "let's play" will give you an idea, but without actually having it in your hands, it is hard to tell, if I would deem it "worth it".

If the content that separates this game(in a good way) from the rest is less than 30% of the price(personal estimation), I dont think it would be worth my time.
Said in another way, If the only thing that was "better" compared to other fantasy 4X games was the combat, it had to be really, really good to justify me buying it.

With a demo, I would be able to try it enough times and get a feel for the game mechanics and potentials, making it much easier to decide on a buy.

Reading test, previews, reviews, forums is what i have done since the "beginning" and it does not give me anywhere near a realistic impression of how I would feel about the product when playing it. Ive only ended up buying a ton of games I have never played or hardly touched, and I dont think I am alone in that regard.

That is why I have adopted the "no demo/trial no buy" policy for a long time. For many years people used piratecopying as demo/trial to decide for a buy, I do not. If the maker doesnt want me to test the product then I wont buy it.

Hi Xintar,

A demo is not something we'll be working on anytime soon I'm afraid.
A free weekend is something we could do.
Gashet Apr 22, 2014 @ 11:17am
free weekend would be much appreciated! Too many disappointments in the last years to spend 40€ on a game I had no chance to try.
Mivo Apr 22, 2014 @ 11:23am
As someone who is usually quite successful at wasting money and then regretting it, I'll just add that I totally failed with AoW3: The game is excellent and well worth the price. ;)

(But yes, I understand the desire for a free weekend.)

Don't want to offend but you bought hardly any games in the past years. Since Demos/Trials are on PC like non existent anymore.^^

I didn't even know they still made demos for games.

Shure they do. They call them "betas" nowadays.
