Lost Planet 3 is a "Good" game
This new and Heavy IP have under this generation encountered heavy critics hammering, but this third installment is far from "bad".
I have now played the singelplayer for around 6 hours and can with confident say that this game is a fun and entertaining experiance. It is to some degree a very different third person experience as it contains a more "open" world than som of it´s counterparts. I personally didn´t enjoy the first Lost Planet due to bad misson design and the childish characters. In this third installment of Lost Planet, story, setting, progression and Characters is the main focus. In my opinoin that is what makes a good game, The gameplay is solid and so is the overall feel of the game and that is what makes it good. Sure, this game is no masterpice and won´t set a "new" standard for games to come but thats fine in my opinion, the first two games didn´t reinvent the wheel either so whats to expect?

So to sum things up. If you enjoy a good and solid Singelplayer experience with an atmosphere too suck up and lose yourself in for some hours then this is for you.

7/10

I dunno. I played 89 minutes only and then had this nice non-passable crash on 6th cutscene. I'm ashamed of my fellow QA's out there... Maybe, just maybe, the game IS fun. If it's working. of course. 'Cause in my case i just got tired of using some magic Jedi tricks first to make it launch, then trying to avoid that crash.

I don't understand many of the criticism leveled against this game to be honest. No Directx 11? So what? I'll take a working DX9 game of a buggy, slapped on DX11 game where DX11 only adds cheap tesselation anyway (*hint hint* XCom Declassified). Besides, it looks gorgerous regardless, the storms and the landscapes are great.

No random rigs you can get into like in part 1 and 2? Absolutely love it. Having your own rig which you can upgrade and take into much more levels and terrains than before feels great. Also, the rig combat is a nice change from the run and gun #1 and run and gun #2 you had in the other parts when you entered a rig.

No achievements? Well, I can see how that can be a deal breaker for some, but let's be honest. Achievements have absolutely no effect on how the gameplay is, so using that to bad mouth the gameplay is redundant.

A lot of backtracking? I actually didn't find it that much, especially since you get fast travel pretty early on. I can see how it still might be too much for others, but on the one hand it gets flak for backtracking, on the other hand I would bet my reputation that it would be called a way too linear game if you would jump from one level to the other and just progress through the story.

Game mechanics are flawed? I don't see it. It has literally the same mechanices as all the other LP titles and so many more third person shooters out there. It doesn't re-invent the wheel but it doesn't turn it into a square either. The gameplay feels actually more fluid than in XCom Declassified by a long shot. People also complained that you can only grapple in pre-determined spots. I wonder why, because the free grappling in 1 and 2 only made it a pain to find the spot where you have to latch onto to make it up the ledge or past a wall or something. The pre-determined spots only help keep the gameplay flowing.

Weak Multiplayer/No Co-op? Here's the only two things where I fully agree with critics. Not having a co-op mode is probably the biggest gripe with this game I could have, since both 1 and 2 were a lot of fun in co-op to play. I haven't tested the Multiplayer myself yet (mainly due to connection issues with the gamespy ID thing) but from how hard it is to even get it going, I don't expect it to hold any innovation or gripping game modes over its predecessors.

So yeah, here you go. My opinion about Lost Planet 3 that no one asked for. I'd give it a 7/10 for the Singleplayer experience and gameplay experience itself, then chop off 1 for the missing co-op and 0.5 for the flawed Multiplayer. That means 5.5/10 in the end. But again, this is due to the Multiplayer part of the game. If you are looking for a solid and fun Singleplayer experience, it's a 7/10 and well worth the 40 bucks.

So long!

I freaking love this game its a masterpiece for me pal. The multipplayer is way better than alot of games on the market and to come. I love that teamdeathmatch in part 1 but this one is the best of series. It feels like gears of war with the cover and shoot balance, like batman AC with the grapples, and of course we get some of the best scifi weapons ever and unlocable perks. The story is great from what I played its sci fi western space monster all the way and thats great. I cant wait to finish the story but the multplayer is so funI can wait a bit.

I like this Mp team deathmatch way better than part 2 I only wish they gave us a demo for pc because had I known it was this fun I would have preordered it. Im sorry I missed the pre order I just wish I had the dlc chars now (bias reviews). I hope they make them available I want to play as the crew members so bad now I noticed many online payers had different characters. I dont mind the standard soldiers it comes with though.

I was so sorry to write this. :( I was hoping that I'd enjoy the game on the weekend, like I did with the XCOM (well, yes, I enjoyed that game too). But... no luck for me. Well, those 89 minutes of gameplay didn't make me bored. And a construction rig instead of military one.. let's say that I consider it a smart move. I always wondered how player even able to carry rig weapon in LP 1 or 2, not even saying about firing it. Well, here we go - you're not carriyng the rig drill! :)

lol you like the rig? moving at the speed of snorlax. 3 attacks? all day? and what? grab ♥♥♥♥ and drill. snore fest fast. no transformable vs no flying and dodging giant akrids...

now you want to talk about mechanics? heres an example of pretty much every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ akrid boss. LEFT STRIKE OH GAWD SO SLOW press dodge. RIGHT STRIKE OH GAWD SO SLOW press dodge... OH GOD MIDDLE AWESOME STRIKE too slow press dodge. WHAT? akrid spawn eggs! annnnnd repeat. while mindless hold fire button on its weak spot in a confined area. and free grappling a pain? man you must not know what the human mind is or you might have used it. i love jumping off in lp3 just to grapple on to the next platform that is directly leveled and next to it instead of grappling the floor on THAT platform. dont forget those turrets you fix up doesn't even shoot properly...what's up with that?

not one fight in this whole game is challenging.

lol your arguement sucks and brought no evidence but lack of a human mind to comprehend mechanics and gameplay.
SumnerSMASH 2013 年 8 月 31 日 下午 7:30
OH NOT ONLY THAT. we have a whole wopping of what? 7 weapons? and alot of customizations to unlock......."alot".
Alekde 2013 年 8 月 31 日 下午 10:30
Good game with great story, but with average graphic, and gameplay. If you want good story in game you must buy this game.

I'm very sorry I enjoy things that you don't. It truly shows my lack of intelligence to go against your likes and even find them enjoyable. Thank you for pointing out the flaws in my logic with such precision and literary brilliance. Of course I will take such a sharp, logic argument as yours completely serious and change my way of thinking. From now on, I will only find enjoyable what you tell me to, since your mind is obviously sharp as a spoon.

how much did they pay you to add 8 points to your score?

I loved tombraider sp but hated its mp and I started to feel that pc 3rd persons shooters that were fun online were not exhistant. I loved the LP demos from the consoles so I decided to get LP on pc and for $ 50 bucks its well worth it I'm happy to see i'm not the only one who feels that way pal. The online is loaded with players so obviously many people like it.

I tend to agree with Oxhorn in that this game is a 7/10. I do need some help in killing a CatG Akrid with the Rig, using the winch. After grabbing the Akrid's mouth with the winch, how do you finish it off? Any ideas would be appreciated.
