"Launcher checking for update": These are the steps: (note: F5 does the same thing as CTRL+SHIFT+R)
Launched the updater, it failed for the first time, it moves on Launcher Checking for update (try 2).
At that point i open my browser, i went to
https://api.infestat...dater/woupd.xml
but also the browser failed loading that page. I tryed to reload with CTRL+SHIFT+R, but it keep on failing, meanwhile i reached (try7).
I keep refreshing with that combination of keys. The updater make the 10th attempt and give me the error.
At that point i refreshed again the page using CTRL+SHIFT+R and i get the result in the browser. I opened immediatly the updater and it starts without problems.
if the game fails to launch with "error message: failed to replace launcher.exe:

fix 1) first close steam next go to steam/steamapps/common/The War Z then delete warzlauncher,warzlauncher.exe,warzlauncher.exe.new. You can open steam and launch the game now. (Note: Steam users have only 1 launcher)

fix 2) Close Steam, go to "my documents" and delete the folder "Arktos" .. if it won't let you delete it, restart your pc, go into safemode and then delete file "Arktos" .. restart your pc, launch the game. If this still fails to fix the issue, delete the file "Arktos" again, and manually update the game via Steam... then launch through Steam.
fix 3) perform both of the above prior to launching Steam
try again
most likely corrupt download
also could be all the new players hitting the update server in your area at same time
it will hopefully work it self out as people settle in
