Infestation: The New Beginning

Infestation: The New Beginning

Infestation - Legit General Review - Let this help you decide
I don't feel like looking up the exact date I started playing but I was there during beta and occasionally hop on now.

Yes this game is the War Z. If that's enough to put you off, stop reading.

For those of you unaware the movie World War Z has the rights to the title War Z, therefor they were forced to change the name.

Hackers: Used to be a huge problem in this game, it's what put me off from playing the game.
I love PVP, that's why I played this game. The unfair advantages hackers got was a game breaker. I think this was due to using trial software on their servers for cheat protection. It seems like they may have finally started fixing that issue as you will notice a lot of people getting kicked due to cheating in the global chat these days.

I think that means two things - either there are a lot of people testing the game to make new hacks OR there are a lot of people out there that want to cheat.

Items: Drop on death. That's what I love about this game. Items can be hard to find at first. I suggest looking up a loot map to find out what type of item spawns there are.

Zombies: Will only die if you hit them in the head. Body shots wont matter. This isn't exactly obvious to all new players - but any fan of zombie horror aims for the head anyways.

Server Hopping: Not sure if this is still a big issue, they changed some stuff around so if you logout outside of a safe zone you will be teleported to a spawn location out side of the zone you were currently in if you log back in within a certain amount of time (can't remember how long)... Meaning you can log, choose a new server, run back into the same town and loot more items. Some people don't like this and think it's cheating. Me? I call it farming items.

Renting Servers: Also kind of broke the game as it facilitates farming items for clans as you can password protect servers. Public servers have that risk that someone might spawn in on you, roll into town, or snipe you from afar.

Weapons: They have mods that you can attach like grips and better sights, etc. It's one thing that really makes your primary function a lot better. I really like the guns in this I wont lie. I haven't been in a good pvp fight in a while but before the m4 on three round burst the second shot wouldn't do damage. I think it may have been fixed though.

Map: It's huge, lots of room on the thing. Sure that's great if you're playing Battlefield and can drive a vehicle (which was pictured on their site - still haven't seen it) but on "Infestation" you have to hike. Yep! Go get your trail mix! Keeps your eyes peeled for Player Killers too! What I suggest to help playing with friends: Create non hardcore characters so you can revive them. Log them out in different major towns your friends like to play in (I think you get 6 character slots) and depending on what's happening you can log in where ever - or help a friend under fire.

Clipping: You can often jump up onto stuff if you keep trying, occasionally see through walls and such. Be aware of that - use it to your advantage of you can learn how to do it!

Do I play this game often? I used to. I can't see myself playing every day again though. The hackers sucked a lot of the will I had to play this game. But that may be better now with the FairFight/PunkBuster stuff going on. I say for a measly amount of money you should buy this game if PVP and drop all items on death doesn't scare you. There are not a lot of friendly players out there. Many will say "Friendly?" in area chat but kill you anyways.

Try it out - you may actually like it if you can get 5 or 6 buds and use ventrillo/mumble/etc to talk.

You are welcome for the first LEGIT review of this game! Now stop fighting over how good/bad this game is! Read this then decide!

Larry from The Walking Dead recently reviewed the game in his own unique way.

I love the game and have been playing for about two months (130+ hrs. so far) and it is very enjoyable. I do avoid a lot of the PvP zones but as I have better gear now from raiding and looting I sometimes venture into areas like Centerville, Smallville, and Campos to get stuff I can't normally find other places. The best I have done in PvP is chase the other guy off but most the time I do end up bitting it if I am not the one that bugs out. The thing that I like best about the game is raiding and looting but when my buddy and I play together it is like a totally different game and even better.

This is not a run and gun game like CoD Zombies. This game is about survival and that is it. There are no in-game missions, there are no points, you just have to survive. I have taken the time to learn where stuff spawns at and didn't use a cheater map to get that information. I'm sure there are some things that I still have not found but that is so much the better. I love a victorious raid. I like to horde things in my vault for use at a latter time.

When you die you loose everything on your character and it takes one hour to play that character again (unless you waste money on GC) so it is wise to make a few different characters. It is pointless in my opinion to spend money on GC to buy things in the Market as you can find everything in the game but it does take time to get those things and you may go into an area that has recently been raid and will find it empty of loot but you can always go back latter and find loot there.

The graphics in this game are not great but they do the trick. For me it is the gameplay and not the graphics. If you are looking for a game that has realistic animation and awesome graphics this game is not for you. If you want to find out how long you can survive then this game is for you indeed.
yes hacker problem basically under control since punk buster was added. since they added pb ive not seen a single hacker which is a good thing

also u can kill zombies by hitting them on the body it just takes like 6-7 melee hits

also u may want to join one of the many free private pve servers and not worry about other players

i actually got it during the last sale after sitting on the fence for over 6 months. so far 50+ hours and im very happy. it plays, runs, looks and sounds great on my 2+ year old amd 1090t, ati 6870, 16gb running 1920x1200 maxed settings.

when i first got it i didnt know what to do and i was getting upset but then i found the wiki and i learn how to play the game, learned the map, learned where best to loot, and what loot is best and even learned where to loot for what i need as i play along

http://www.infestationwiki.com/view/Infestation_MMO_Wiki_-_Main_Page

i also learned i didnt need gc nor the ingame store and that i didnt have to die like i used to, the zombies are not hard if u lure them one by one and keep and eye out for them.

actually u dont want to do things like server hopping cause fairfight is watching and can ban for it.
