The error that says you cannot connect to their servers due to a firewall or proxy blocking you. It occurs randomly it seems, even if you do not go through a proxy and even if you deactivate your firewall.
Done all of the above, still nothing. As well, the support site is about as useful as broken lightbulb.
stuff like this happens everytime there is like a sale or a big update and everybody all at the same time tried to get the game and the update and it overruns their servers

so wait a bit. an update went out today and everybody is trying to get it at the same time

if it does not resolve itself in a day or so contact their support
You're right, this does happen often from what I've read. Although it's a bit odd when people in my own region, in my own state are able to play, as is half the community. And again, the support from the company that makes this game is as useful as a broken lightbulb.
nonsense the game is great. this happens to lots of games for the same reason. especially indie games. updates and sales and free weekends ans such just saturate their small infrustrature. hack even steam and ea have constant problem with deploying and updating titles. simcity and battlefield are nightmares whenver there is an update... so if giants with multibillion dollar budgets cant handle it then what hope is there for handful of people in tiny indy company like this one... just relax go play some other game and in no time their servers will be back to normal.
I never said that the game was bad, I said that the company that produces it is. I know this happens a lot, I'm not really complaining about it either. I just find it odd ya know? Big name titles from EA always have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ launches now because of the lack of stress testing and QA testing. As for Valve and Steam, the only time I've ever really noticed a problem with their servers is when they off things for free. I definitely understand server problems with small companies, but I've never really witnessed updating/concern handling this poor.
i only had problems once or twice in getting update in over 8 months. so it cant be that bad.

its a region thing.

also u have to understand steam daily goes down, look at the stats it shows the problem. these discussion areas are constantly going down.

so is ea, ubi, ect why because they all using cloud servers and and services such as cloudfront that are under massive ddos attacks...

so perhaps its not an update thing and its more of a ddos attack that is going on...

and if multibillion dollar company cant handle it what hopes for tiny indie

the company that produces it. they have 0 control over a world they didnt build

they spend their time creating free updates, new contect, changes and fixes with the money they get...

so im not sure why you or anyone would have a problem with them.. since they r hard at work on making the game better.

in facct i dont know of any other game company that has done so many updates. they basically do one every couple weeks. and this now for over a year..

many other indie companies take months between releases. and even giants take months between releases.

I realize it's a region thing, it's a weird region thing, but yes, I agree it is one. I have never had a problem connecting to Steam except during the holiday sales. DDos attacks are unlikely, few and far inbetween, and easily fixed. The main reason I have a problem with them is they seem to ignore their own community, they have multiple controversies surrounding them, and they prefer quantity over quality. I know of quite a few indie companies that have several or more updates than HP and though yes, they do take a month or so between updates to ensure quality. Again though, don't get me wrong, I enjoy the game, it's a good alternative to Dayz or State of Decay. It's the company I don't really like.
i dont see them as ignoring the community. one just have to take a look at all the pools, changes, fixed, additions theyve made for over a year now.

people want something they deliver it.

if this was not the case it would not be on steam top 100 for over a year now since released to this date, around #50, certainly its not there cause of reviews, articles, threads, posts... its there cause they deliver and do it each and eveyr day for over a year now.

just look at all the announcements. the developer diaries, the many release notes

i dont know of many indie companies or even giant companies that deliver as much as these guys

sure keep in mind tis a b-rated game from a tiny indie company. so assets like animations, textures, models, ect and such will always be a liitle imperfect, cause its not like they can take them from the marketplace that unity and udk has and use them

plus its not like they are going to move tons of code i a single night. look how long its taken ea to do offline mode that was there from day 1 for simcity and all they needed was a 2 menu entry (save and load) and the forum for them... then compare what u get out of dice / maxis to these guys...

this is the little engine that could compare to those guys...

now watch bis doing dayz with lots of money, talent, even code from others games and see what happens. oh wait rocket quitting and running w the money before its going to be finished... ah too bad... u dont see that here sergey still at it.. and unlike rocket who got alll the awards before they were even deserved, i mean best zombie game of the year have u looked at the zombie ai, animations ect... this certainly best zombie game of the year before that game... and this more comparable to the dead linger kind of team and those guys doing it using unity engine which means they can pick something up in unity asset store these guys cant and look how long it takes them to to updates over there and move code with alll the advantage of unity... these guys have been moving lots more code and they dont have asset store to turn to... both games started about the same time and look where this one is and look where that one is.. and that one cost more than this one!

also no game company now adays and for a long times tests much they release as soon as it compiles... from dice with battlefield, ect the players are the testers... and more and more the investors paying for it without getting the dividens...

Before I continue, I do encourage that you carefully read over the laundry list of controversies that this game has gone through. As well, to look at any reviewing site for this game, as I have never actually seen it above a 4/10 anywhere. Then, read through the extensive list of Steam reviews that list this game as a negative review, and if you need an absolute follow up to it, I suggest the review that TotalBiscuit did of this game, it pretty much hits the nail on the head even after the updates. If we're talking about models/textures, they are absolutely horrible, I'm sorry, but they honestly are. Yes, this game is around 50 on steam, because the game does deliever fun. I think its a fun game, but I wouldn't put it over L4D, SoD, or Dayz. Other developers put an equal amout of work in, for instance, WarThunder, another freemium game like this one, has an update every so often that adds and fixes. Same with Warframe and Minecraft. So, again, my point is, the game is fun, but I still dislike the parent company.
yawn over year old stuff... i know its been plastered all over... people keep trying to bring it up and repackage it as news when in fact it nomatter how they try to resurrect it is over year old... i dont live in the past, i live in the present. and since that past there is over a year worth of updates and work that theyve done as seen by he long list of announcements, developer diaries, and release notes. i dont hold grudges as well and many of the original people are gone. i mean u going to blame zobert of what others before him did. poor zobert took the wrong job ;) and sergey well he's just one person... so cause u dont like 1 person you going to not like a others that had nothing to do with it and who just come in to work each day and do their jobs...
