I have been working on my own take of the SCXPM Mod.
It is class-based and closer to vanilla Sven balance, for a slightly more hardcore experience with some power progression.

Key features:
Multiple Classes each with a single strong ability that fits a specific role such as Support, Tank, DPS, Summoner.

Level scaling abilities, HP/AP and Energy, potentially making you stronger as you level, but without making you immortal. (Still undecided as to whether classes should have the same HP/AP cap or vary per class).

Ammo recovery system, some classes get very small passive non-scaling bonuses to ammo recovery and max limits.
Rates are otherwise fixed.
Auto-balances rates for horror maps with timer multipliers.

HP/AP recovery system that heals % of maximum and has different rates for HP/AP, AP being slower. Does not scale with level.
Halts for a few seconds when taking damage.

All classes auto increase stats, no skill points need to be spent.
XP will save automatically when gaining XP or leaving.
Levels and XP save separately for each class.
1 score = 1 XP and XP is shared 1:1 with all players, so that rushing and XP hogging is a thing of the past. Minions also transfer score to their master, which in turn shares it with the team. Teamwork!

Bare in mind that it is very much a work in progress, much is subject to change. There are 7 currently functioning classes, bound to be remaining bugs.

In order to get this right and keep the experience fun without making things too easy or too far removed from vanilla, there is lots of balancing to be done and testing currently is very limited to solo and randoms that join when I host.
