Can't start neither Listen or Dedicated server
I've tried everything:
  • Port forwarding port 27015. But it doesn't seem to work, or there is no service running at port 27015.

  • Starting a listen server:
The listen server only shows up in my LAN server list and not in the Internet server list, but I unchecked the "LAN Game" option.
    I tried this guide http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=606465725

  • Starting a dedicated server:
It won't show up in the Internet server list, but it will show up in my Favorites list when I add my local ip to it. It just doesn't do anything when I try to connect to it. Also nothing shows up in my LAN server list.

Type sv_lan 0 in the console after you've started the server, then type reload.

You need to forward UDP & TCP.

Never mind, it works now I think, saw some people join and leave.
Guess it was the UDP packets setting.

canyouseeme.org still doesn't see any service on port 27015 though...

This site most likely doesn't even know what a GoldSrc server is lest being able to identify one.

I also tried the followings sites and they all reported my port 27015 is closed:
I'm not an expert with routing but shouldn't all those sites report my port 27015 (or service) as open when I opened it in my router's NAT fowarding settings?

But people seem to be able to join my server now regardless ...

Dude, those are all web sites, not Svencoop game clients. They don't know how to properly identify a Svencoop server.
Ketho Jan 23, 2016 @ 12:36am
Ow so I guess they have to identify the running service, instead of just a (TCP&UDP) port being open.

It's not possible to identify an open port. This is technically not possible! What's possible, is to send a request to a port. This request has to be recognized by the server listening on that port. If the server doesn't recognize the request, the server doesn't answer. Simple as that.

Again: It's technically not possible to identify a port being open!

Actually, you can identify a port being open. Try using a software that portforward.com provides. http://portforward.com/help/portcheck.htm

It works with me.

wait what UDP & TCP? i want to make a working local server as well because of the massive lags in the other server
Sindex Jan 23, 2016 @ 6:57pm
Hm, I keep getting local IP as well for some reason, strange.

People came to me sayin that port checkers are saying it isn't open when it really is. You can't trust them, trial and error works better.

That's what you're generally supposed to do: forward it on the router/modem

I did :)
Port forwarded port 27015 TCP & UDP in my router/modem.

I was just confused that all those port checker sites still reported my port as being closed.

It checks services.
