are you dual booting between the two systems? if so, then that means you are using the same audio card? is it by realtek? unless you are using an external soundcard? try typing "_snd_mixahead 0.1" in the console (or higher like "0.2"). lastly you should try WASAPI instead of DirectSound, open your settings and click "advanced", scroll down to uncheck the "Force DirectSound" and restart the game. it could be also in your autoexec: s_force_dsound "0"

edit: you could also try one of these commands but they will make the sounds lo-fi

hisound "0"
loadas8bit "1"

okay, here comes the inevitable: what is your cpu and is the game installed on a ssd?

edit: also kindly change the _snd_mixahead to 0.1 (default) and s_force_dsound to 1 (its better)

my copy of sven coop is installed on an ssd and my CPU (presumably you reffering to the one in task manager) is an AMD Ryzen 5 4500 6-Core Processor.

did your motherboard come with a realtek or intel hda soundcard? just for reference, i would like to know your model, its optional, but you can find it in the device manager > "realtek high definition audio" or "realtek audio" > properties > details > instance path, look for DEV_XXXX, where XXXX is your physical sound chip. thanks, now try updating or reinstalling your audio drivers as well as your system while youre at it. if none of that works, im afraid unless there is a game update tomorrow or you fortunately have another computer (with a different soundcard) it wont just fix itself any time soon, unless i am a cat and it inevitably will happen, i am good for you :) what
i have a nvidia high definition audio device i think. is that a good sign?

no, it should be under sound, video and game controllers... wait a minute, are you using a usb-a port for your headphones?

dw im struggling here myself :(

a little cylinder! OKAY, this is still very confusing, uhm. i just wanted to know if you are digital or analogue. but you still didnt tell me whether you have a realtek codec or not. also i dont know if youve updated your audio drivers already, this is done in your windows update thingie, if you have anything of "optional updates" please install them all, if the sound is still laggy after this then go to the device manager > sound, video, game controllers > look for realtek/intel high definition audio > richt click on it > update driver > search automatically > restart your pc (not shutdown!!! its a different thing for a reason), and if THAT still doesnt work, then go to control panel > hardware and sound > sound, and disable everything nvidia (or amd) related in the playback tab, and see if that helps, all it does is disable DP, HDMI and DVI output... speaking of which, if i miserably fail here, you can always get sound from your monitor via HDMI, if you even have speakers in it and have nice neighbours... and it SHOULD work by the way, so check THAT to see if its alright (it really should be) since its getting through your videocard DIGITALLY, not through your soundcard with ITS digital-to-analogue converter, then the signal goes to your monitor which has its own DAC which shouldnt have any problems... that is again if your monitor has them

once again, if you have another mini-jack port anywhere on your motherboard - try that. if you have headphones that are usb-a based - try them.

btw these would be just the first steps in identifying the culprit, like, it cant be your headphones, cant be your ports, but could be your CPU, DAC, your soundcard or your SSD. i just dont know so many details before i suggest anything specific

i tried all of that, nothing works. :steamsad:
thanks for atleast trying to fix my problem tho :steamhappy:
a bit late here, but this completely slipped my mind, of course! sound > right click on your headphones > properties > enhancements - all OFF > advanced > set your sample rate to the one your DAC supports 100%, like 16 bit 44,1khz. i suppose you have done the same mistake on linux
