Custom Player Models not working.... my friend DOES HAVE the models

I put a few models in my svencoop_addons/models/player folder. Then I zipped it and sent it to my friend. He put it in the exact same directory.

And yet, when we play the campaign... he sees me as the default HEV helmet suit? What am I doing wrong?

This is for coop Half Life campaign on listen server.

I need to know something first: Are you able to select the custom model in your own game? Can your friend select the same custom model as well?

This is a good question. If the model is not available to your friend in their game options it would suggest it hasn't been installed correctly their side.

Thank you for the replies. I checked my friend's folders, and he does have the models installed properly. Exactly as I have them. But he cannot select custom character models, as in they don't appear. Not even on solo play.
What could he be doing wrong?
For example, we both have a Resident Evil Chris Redfield model at

svencoop_addon\models\player\chrisredfield

where the mdl and bmp reside. I can select this model. But he cannot.

Something is wrong on your friend's side.
You said you zipped it and sent it to your friend. Did he put the zip file in instead of the actual files?

I deliberately checked his files myself for this. It's as it should be

Hmm, is it located in svencoop_addons or svencoop_addon there?
Because it needs to be _addon, not _addons.

Right, that's my bad. Just a typo on the post, the actual files were put in "addon".
All that said, my friend did cache verification. And now it works fine. I'm not sure if it's because its install was screwed somehow, or if it's because cache verification made him reinstall the files (we had already deleted and re-installed them multiple times at this point but it hadn't worked. don't know what was different this time, he even used the same archive as previous times).
