Sacred 2 Gold

Sacred 2 Gold

Should I buy this? Is this better than Diablo III?
I just saw this Sacred 2 Gold on sale for 50% off. It just came out recently too. I remember vaguely about this game Sacred 2 a long time ago.. I know it was a huge game but never garnered much attention.

So.. is this game good? The action, itemization, monsters?

Diablo II is my favourite game of all time and D3 has left me hanging. Torchlight 2 was a blast to play but it is still not enough.. I am wondering if Sacred 2 Gold is a good game.. Or just another bad clone..?

Unfortunately, I don't believe it's better. Still fairly good on its own though,

Hmmm... Diablo 3 is suposed to be better, but for me, Sacred 2 is the best game in it's genre.
The world is VERY detailed and it's massive huge with no repetition on the locations.
The only bad thing.... are the skill system lvl up, it just sucks... and you can get pretty much every skill in 1 hour into the game...
Anyway, for 10€ its a massive game, if you like the usual hack and slash with the quest do/deliver system, this game is awesome, but its very repetitive (still, I love it, have it for PC and PS3)

sacred is no graphics stopper but it does best d3 , i prefer sacred 2 ...

better yet try titan quest .

Better than diablo 3? what a dumb question. No it's not better than diablo 3 because it has a different approach. It's kinda like sand box action rpg with MMO style side questing and light main story. In the end it will be about what you prefer than what's better than the other.

It is better than Diablo 3 but then again everything is better than Diablo 3.
Seriously though, the Sacred games are excellent Diablo clones, and they are better than Diablo 3 ironically. The itemization, graphics, classes and skills are excellent.
Some people prefer the titans quest series but its a matter of taste, for me Sacred offered better variation, much better itemization (itemization was titans quest biggest failure for me) better characters/classes and more interesting gameplay.

One more thing: If you liked Diablo 2, i would recommend Sacred Gold (the original first game), s2 was great but after all was said and done, i think s1 was a more accurate diablo clone, and its selling for a mere 1.99 now, a steal for such a quality game.
imho Sacred 1 was (and still is) the best diablo since diablo 2.

And if you are looking for a Diablo with more story and depth and freedom of choice, try Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity, they are superb games, they were tagged "the thinking man's Diablo" for a reason.
Divine Divinity is one of the best games i ever played, and i played a few.

If you want a fun open world to explore and endless items to find for 6 different classes then i would invest in this game... This game blows Diablo 3 out of the water IMO. Diablo 3 might have nicer graphics, but as far as "building" characters and exploring goes... Sacred 2 hands down. You can easily put 100+ hours into a single character and still have things left to complete.. I have actually played this game for years on the Playstation 3 ( just recently built my first pc) and always wanted to play the Ice & Blood expansion, but it was never released for consoles. I was very thrilled to see the Sacred 2 Gold Edition on Steam the other day for $9.99. Finally!

If you enjoyed games like Baldurs Gate and Champions of Norrath then im almost positive you will enjoy this game.

I have always said the Sacred games were better than Diablo, Sacred 1 is better than D2 and S2 is better than D3. There's a lot more you can do in the game and not get bored, a lot more room for character progression, and a better story.
It's really hard to say one game is better than the other when the games are entirely different games, despite being in the same genre. In a nutshell, however, Diablo III is a very tightly constructed and scripted experience that sacrifices freedom in favor of the narrative. Whatever you may think of that narrative or the gameplay involved in constructing that narrative, it's obvious that with Diablo III, you're enjoying the game the way Blizzard wants you to enjoy it.

With Sacred 2, you have a larger amount of freedom. You can go wherever you like (well, almost wherever), approach quests in whatever order you wish to do them and pick whichever abilities you want your character to have. the down side of all this freedom is that the narrative suffers for it...which is fine, because it's all very tongue in cheek, anyways. Diablo III takes itself far more seriously than this game does, and there's a lot of 4th wall breaking going on in Sacred 2.

It really depends on what you're wanting out of an arpg. Honestly? I think both are decent if flawed games. Diablo III was fun for me up till act 2 inferno. Sacred 2 is great it just suffers from a lack of direction at times and getting LAN to work can be a bit aggravating at times. Considering it's ten bucks as I write this, i'd say that if you have the money to get Diablo III, you might as well spend the extra ten and get this, too.

I don't think that Diablo 3 is about anything but the auction houses. There are no character builds, and basically no equipment upgrades through loot collection. (There is about a one in a million chance of getting a rare drop that you can't use, and then you have to go to one of the auction houses to trade it for something that you CAN use.)

Diablo 3 betrays everything that is fun about hack-n-slash, looting, character-building, set collecting games.

Sacred 2 exemplifies all the qualities that make action, fantasy, hack-n-slash, loot collection games fun; plus, it has a rewarding, free ranging map-exploration system. Your magic find goes up as your explored map increases, and, your xp gain goes up as you survive without dying.

Both of those things go down if you die, even on softcore. Sacred 2 is everything that a game in its genre should be, and then some.

It also has beautiful, gorgeous, realistic graphics, if you have invested in a graphics card that can actually run the game. I would suggest that Sacred 2 has the best graphics of any game ever put out in its genre to date, although, if you do not have a top-end graphics card, you are out of luck to be able to even run it, much less play it immersively.

Sacred 2 is very feature rich, contrary to Diablo 3 which really is just a poor excuse for a hack and slash. Good loot, interesting spells and abilities, funny quests (lots of good stories to read, if you're into this), and the survival rate mechanic, which affects loot, enemy strength and your character's attributes.

Make sure to install community patch and look for my "mandatory tools and tweaks" thread somewhere here ...

Yes and No, this game still feels like a beta. The first Sacred was great and I highly recommend it but this one is a mess. The developer never learned the term less is more so they put so much in this game that you are bombarded with quests and mobs to the point of frustration. Play Diablo 3, Titan Quest, Hellgate Global, and Torchlight 2 for a better less buggy more polished experience.

Diablo 3 was fun enough at launch but since all of the patches I am enjoying Diablo 3 more than any other action RPG released up until this date. The only game that comes close is Torchlight 2.

If you like eye candy this game is beautiful, lots of items, lots of skill combinations and worth the $20 if you are looking for another Action RPG to play.

Sacred 2 has much more depth in char builds, itemization and probably about 20 times the content of D3 when it comes to enemies and areas to explore. But on the other hand D3 is much more polished and has got the action combat down pat where S2 is a bit less smooth flowing while fighting.

Bottom line is if you like having an open world, tons of quests and areas to explore and a many ways to equip and spec out chars then S2 is the best game out there for that.
