Just Cause 3 refuses to go Fullscreen

Hi,
I've started playing Just Cause 3 and it's a lot of fun, but I'm having the same problem with this as I did with Just Cause 2 (and no other games), it just won't go fullscreen, it's set to fullscreen mode, but pops back to windowed, even if I click ALT+ENTER, it still just goes back to windowed automatically, and since there is no Borderless mode, this, I don't know, it just doesn't look great. This is a great game and I'm enjoying it, is there anyway I can get it to Fullscreen?

CPU: Intel Core i7 @ 4.00GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 970
RAM: 8GB
MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-Z97X
HDD: 3TB

I had the same problem and solution is
Right-Click the game in your Steam Library and go to Properties and then Set Launch Options, here enter “/borderless /windowed” command.

I'm having the same issue on my GTX970M, played fine the first time. After I alt-tabbed, couldn't get it to go back to full screen. Even after rebooting, still can't get it to load into fullscreen. I have managed to get full back to full screen one time since, but now i'm stuck again. I've tried all the things people have had luck with to no avail. Adding the "/borderless /windowed" command, it appears full screen, but it's not true fullscreen and the game runs very choppy (was perfectly smooth when it was full true screen).

Hard to believe there's no true fix for this yet....

For anyone else having this problem, I found a workaround that has been working for me. Navigate to the Steam\steamapps\common\Just Cause 3 folder right click JustCause3.exe, choose compatibility, set it to run compatible for windows 7, and check the "run as administrator" box. Mine now launches fullscreen, but i still consider it a workaround, because if i alt tab out of the game, I can't get back to fullscreen without exiting and restarting the game

Here's something I discovered.

I have an MSI GE72QE. Leave it unplugged, JC3 launches in the screwed up window.
Plug it in? Full screen everytime.

Hypothesis: Without the plug, the machine does not utilize the dedicated card completely.

Testing: With and Without the plug, launching the game.

Results: My MSI laptop does not utilize the "Sport" mode, meaning 100% full power to the dedicated card. Without that 100%, the game will not launch into fullscreen mode and would appear to at least partially use the Intel chip to set resolution.

After some troubleshooting i found myself a fix,
Go into steam
Library,
Go to properties of JC3,
Launch options,
Without comma's "/borderless /windowed"
Boot up the game

For those that the "/borderless /windowed" startup options do not work, or rather it's too choppy since it isn't true fullscreen, here is my workaround: Like I said before, setting the just cause 3 exe file to run compatibility for win 7 and run as admin helped... However, i ran into another issue where it seemed to be stuck in the wrong resolution and wouldn't load full screen again.. The only workaround I found (which worked each time so far) is to launch geforce experience, choose Just Cause 3, click the little settings wrench next to "optimize," change the resolution to something else like 1280 x 720, apply, then go back and change it back to 1920 x 1080, apply and launch... Not the best solution, but it makes a great game playable, so hopefully it works for some of you.

Maybe a bit different approach which worked for me, I had MSI Afterburner running at the same time, and tried to run the game with it closed. It worked for me.

Tried everything, optimized the game, used borderless windowed modes, tried compability mode... Nothing worked. The game works fine windowed but it just refuses to go fullscreen...

When I hit alt-tab to go to another application then come back, just cause wont' go back into full screen mode, how lame! March 2018 and still no fix!

I also have this no-fullscreen issue on a Asus laptop with GTX1070 and tried all the solutions presented here. Sometimes it works - and then without any changes the next time I start JC3 it does not. This is annoying. JC3 would be a great game otherwise - and JC3 is the only game with this problem.

It seems that Teamviewer also causes problems in some games, for me just closing TV fixed the issue. Hope this helps.

For me the solution was the "Fullscreen" toggle at the top of graphics settings.

I think it got set to off when I changed my resolution.

if you want full screen all you have to do is go into setting, graphics and then select full screen yes/no

Thank you, I was having this problem in Linux, And this fixed it for me. Actually it was /borderless/fullscreen to fix my problem.

None of these solutions worked. Mine was to go to the settings file where full screen is set to "1" and make that text file read only. Don't know why that worked but I've had zero issues since. I'm on an Asus Tuf laptop with AMD CPU and GPU and I have AMD Adrenaline.
