JC3 Amazing but possibly short? [Potential spoilers]
I can recall getting 60+ hours into JC2 on Xbox 360 before finishing the story and still having over 75% of the entire map to liberate.. JC3 however, in less than 30 hours into JC3, and I've successfully managed to liberate every single settlement, base, etc.. All areas of the map are blue.. And it took no time at all.. Once you gain access to the jet that can drop bombs, a single well placed bombing run can wipe out smaller outposts instantly. Yes. Just one drop.

I remember spending a lot of time in JC2 simply searching for upgrade crates so I could complete a base take over... And that could literally take almost an hour at times if it was well hidden. Not that I’m complaining.. Those were frustrating moments for sure..

However, with the exception of a couple more story missions (ive pourposely tried to delay so I could do almost everything in the game to get my moneys worth), I cant see too much left to do.. Just starting to feel sad that I've almost completely exhausted everything to do in the game (Almost), before the first patch gets to see the light of day and I’m able to enjoy the game without stutter..

Has the explosive nature of the series lost it's charm? There is only so much physics based destruction one could do before it becomes repetitive... and that’s when bombing runs for liberation started making sense. With an 'okay' story but repeating takeovers, I almost feel like there was not a whole lot to do in JC3.. Dont get me wrong, its a great game.. Just seems short.

With you on this one... Have to keep myself from liberating too much and stopped doing missions because I want to enjoy the game without extreme stutter.
Its kind of sad.

Compare it to JC2 map and see the difference, hundreds of military installations to destroy in JC2! I also enjoy driving from the jungle setting right over to the desert, great transition.
Shame this game wasn't truly huge in world size, i have finished and uninstalled, i need the space on my tiny SSD! Another disappointing release of 2015 in my opinion.

Yes, driving through the biomes in JC2 was really enjoyable :)

I love Just Cause 3, but i DO miss those great chases across Panau's deserts. And WHY did they kill the ability to hang off the front of a car and shoot at the enemies behind you??? That really got me out of many tight spots. And jumping from car to car with the tap of a button is also missed...

Yeah I noticed the lack of a "stumt jump" button too, you really cant switly and elegantly jump across vehicles now..

So last night I finished the game, I really didn’t think it would be this short. But even the final battle was a letdown:

I suppose in the final battle the player is expected to shoot down the DRM heli, but instead, the moment shields went offline, i attached one end of the grapple to the heli, other to the floor and yanked it straight to the ground. What likely was supposed to be a 5min battle took less than 3 seconds after it began..

Even after seeing it flip and explode when it hit the ground, a cutscene started showing it flying on fire as if I had shot it.. Final words between the antagonist and Rico were very cheezy and the ending was "press left mouse to shoot".. Bam. Done.

No slow mo bullet. No dramatic music. No falling back into the flames. Just bam. done. credits.

Ended up completing pretty much everything in JC3 within 29hours of gameplay. Compare that to the 60+ hours in JC2 which im STILL yet to finish liberating more than 50% of the map.. JC3 was quite shameful.

Yes the wingsuit was an amazing addition. Physics based destruction was a million times more interesting than JC1 and JC2 scripted explosions. But is that really enough..?

Money spent to hours played ratio is likely the best way to judge a game. It's simple. What did I pay? Did I get the same amount of enjoyable hours?

Just Cause 2: Well over 60 hours (Xbox and PC together). Totally worth it.
Arma 2: Well over 100 hours. Totally worth it.
GTA 5: well over 200 hours. Totally worth it.
CS:GO: well over 600 hours. Totally worth it.
Every Bethesda game: Certainly enough content to keep me busy. Totally worth it.

But JC3... Nope.. $60 for 30hours that I likely won’t be quick to re-visit.. I’m unsure.. I did love the gameplay. The world was beautiful. But I ran out of content before the first patch even came to fix the stuttering. Here are hopes to a multiplayer mod to bring some life back into the game.

I would agree! The game looks unfinished to me. I think if the top island was as busy as the bottom two nobody would have even mentioned it. Part of me hopes that the DLC will replace all those 'ruins' on the top island with proper towns and military bases!

Can only agree to the above, especially because in JC2 you had like a billion faction missions and here you have literally none (if you dont count those "encounter" things)
Really feels lacking in content :/

Completely agree.

- The map seems much smaller than JC2
- The map has way fewer villages, bases etc.
- There's no cool things like downtown areas, civilian huge airports, mile high club, huge buddha face, hidden bases with underground things to explode, gas pipelines to burst etc.
- Uninspired and bland sunsets, which take hours of game playing to actually change from day to night.
- No deserts, no beautiful scenery changes
- No ammo, drug drop, weapons, $ parts etc.
- Just one large island, couple more smaller islands but just empty space really. They're just land masses filled with almost nothing
- Everything blows up too quick
- No mini map so constantly have to check which direction you're flying by interrupting game to check map. Which moron thought this was a good idea?
- No dual parachute thrusters

About 16 hours in, I've finished quite a bit already. Another 10 and it will be over.
By comparison, I spent over 60 hours in JC2 and was just like 20% done.
It was very difficult in JC2 NOT to run into something to do in 1 min of moving. Here, you can fly for 3mins with nothing in sight to do, except large land mass.

Overall, this game is a shadow of JC2. Sure, it is fun and a bit more varied but overall, underwhelming compared to JC2.

Judging from your achievements, you still have A LOT to do in Just Cause. I don't think you've done "pretty much everything".

That being said, while I agree with the thread in general, I think JC2 was too overkill, the amount of bases was out of control and I actually felt kinda overwhelmed by it. Sure I had fun but I never thought about getting 100%. I got 70 or so though, so it's not like I only played the story.

In my opinion a concept like JC3 with some more bases etc would be ideal. I didn't feel like JC3 was too short but it could have been a bit longer for sure. I got 100% in 42 hours
MY TEAM SUCKS Jan 11, 2016 @ 8:12am
