If Medici is a "Mediterranean tourist destination" then why...
Why is there no civilian airport, hotels,or touristy places?

Just Cause 2 had all of these things, the three kings hotel, an airport, a ski resort, a casino, the mile high club, and a race track.

Medici is kind of a featureless place aside from some old ruins.

I Agree with you...

Well, they are under a dictatorship so that's got to mean something. But I agree.

Baby Panay was a better dictator I guess :steammocking:

He even had a cool Dr. Evil esque lair.

JC3 has great mechanics, but when it comes to the world itself - I'm left wondering if they simply ran out of time.

Say what you will about JC2's storyline or lack of wingsuit, but at least that world felt varied and full of personality. In one map you had deserts, jungles, snow peaked mountains and dense urban metropolises. Where JC3 has wide open vista perfect for wing-suiting, much of it feels recycled, uninspired, and devoid of life.

The entire top half of the world map in JC3 is empty, supposedly to lend credence to the storyline. Yet, in playing upon this scenario, the player is left with a world which is not all that fun to play in. There are no airports, resorts, hotels, skyscrapers, cities, or freeways to give this world the feeling of being a real place.

Supposedly Merdici is where Rico grew up and he's coming back to bring this psychopath to justice, but honestly... it doesn't feel like a believable world. Copy/pasted settlements tucked away to the south, and a completely empty northern hemisphere leaves one with much to be desired.

Add to the fact that each settlement down south is spread miles apart from one another, after a few hours of playing around you realize there isn't the same desire to explore and interact with this world as there was in JC2. JC3, to me, feels like vanilla Destiny. Solid game-play mechanics with some cool features, but devoid of any heart or love (because the content just isn't there).

With JC2 you could feel that the developers really ran to town with the ridiculousness of the world and story. JC2 played upon itself and poked fun at how different it was than GTA. This gave a sense of true sandbox play to the world, since most recent GTA titles were moving away from the free-form sandbox "your way" play into a more serious tone. JC3 appears to play it safe, not wanting to really let the player outside of the lines - but too afraid to become completely serious either.

JC3 is the worst of GTA/JC2. On one hand (GTA), you have a lack of true freedom and tomfoolery; and on the other, a complete departure from JC2... afraid to go back to its roots of free-for all sandbox play.

-airport got destroyed by general? (Logical, since we think there re many villages destroyed, only ruins left on map)

-maybe mountains doesnt let planes to approach runways safely?

-maybe its wind valley ? this s actually real technical thing when building an airfield. you need to watch wind movements on area for first 5 years before building the runway.

-maybe at first place medici goverments never focused on attracting tourists, therefore the lack of civilian infastructure.

-maybe devs wanted to look like a country in civil war, rather than a country in civil war with tourists who dont give a damn when bullets start to fly.

well ,these re the social-politic and geographical reasons i can think. if none of these acceptable for you, then we going to accept the theory of "devs got lazy" and move on with our lives.

There are in game quotes from civilians stating "Oh it's rico! they told us about you at the hotel!" and "I remember you from panau, stop ruining my vacations!".

To me that is clearly the case. The epitome of this is how lame the ending is to the main story in JC3, compared to how ridiculous and funny the last mission was in JC2. Add the technical issues still plaging this game a year after launch and it does paint a pretty sad but obvious picture. Repetative challenges don't do much to spice it up either.

The first half of the game felt like they had spent some time thinking about the missions and trying to add humor to the story (albiet not always successfully), but by the second half I lost any sense of fun and felt like I was just going through the motions. To culminate on such a lame ending too, just sad how it all ended up.

Agreed. I just completed the game, and I'm left wondering what happened to the small details of the world and the campaign missions. There was little flow to the campaign, and not much variety to Medici. Granted, the gameplay remains as brilliant as Just Cause 2 (in some instances, even better). However, the world itself is seriously lacking. It feels like an incomplete game, and I imagine that's due to the emphasis on DLC that Square Enix has been pushing of late in their treasured franchises.

That final boss battle was just plain bad. Especially when compared to Just Cause 2's bombastic disable the nukes fight scene in mid flight. The boss battle in Just Cause 3 was antiquated in the worst sort of way. Dodge missile, shoot, repeat. It's just lazy design.

I'm not even close to certain if this is true, but I think that the random airstrips are the area where tourists are dropped off. Then, a boat drives them to "Di Ravello City" or any other towns/cities like Babica.
DeeG Feb 15, 2018 @ 4:09am
Maybe its just one of those odd places where you go on a boat instead of flying there. As for the tourist attractions, it's basically North Korea. Statues, propaganda, and censored media are the attractions. I imagine the tall buildings are hotels that aren't branded as "hotels".
DeeG Feb 15, 2018 @ 4:10am
Not to mention Panau used to be non dictator so they may have made attractions before the dictatorship began.
