V-sync limiting to 60fps instead of 120?

Anyone else seeing this? My fps even jumps up to 120 if i open the menu but it its capped at 60 during gameplay with v-sync on. Disabled it jumps well over 120.

Edit: Yes the Monitor is set at 120hz

To my knowledge V-Sync (when enabled) will cap your FPS at your monitors refresh rate.

Took this from another thread on Steam:

If the game runs at less FPS than the refresh rate

then Vsync makes it run with half of refresh rate (30 fps).

If the game runs less than at 30 FPS already, Vsync (I don't remember exactly) makes it run at 20 (1/3 of refresh rate) or 15 (1/4 of refresh rate) FPS.

So don't use Vsync on demanding games like Crysis on higher settings. So without VSync you'll have ugly tearing but the game will be noticeably smoother.

if your FPS dips below 120 fps the cap will be set to 60 fps. At least I imagine that is what is happening. As this game is quite a ressource hog, i think that is the problem.
