IMPORTANT: Save Game Fix Windows 10
For all of those on Windows 10 - the game needs admin privileges to be able to create the save game\settings folder. To fix the issue, follow these steps:

1. Go to Library, Games, Right click on Just Cause 3 and go to properties
2. Go to local files
3. Browse local files
4. In the folder that just opened, Right click on JustCause3.exe and click properties
5. Go to the tab called Compatability
6. At the bottom, check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator"
7. Click apply and Voila
8. Enjoy

Since when? I didn't run in admin on windows 10 and it saved just fine.

Edit: Nevermind. If you have Steam in your program folder etc. then you are right.

Not too sure - I upgraded a few weeks ago from 7 and have had this issue a few times with different games that they don't have sufficent privileges, but won't say anything about it.

Unfortunate being 3 hours in, going for dinner, and coming back to a forceful fresh start..

Doesn't the game warn you of it not actually saving?

This is a known windows problem really. I remember having more problems with these permissions with program folders. Especially if you disable UAC ( but it still runs silently..darn windows ) and want to install to a certain location. I don't want your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ security. I can protect my pc myself and with the programs is use, thank you very much. I know what i'm doing. But there is no damn advanced or expert mode in windows anymore. It has dumbed down so much you must go through endless menu's to get to the inner workings ( unless you use certain shortcuts or apps ). It is like they designed the OS to keep nosy kids out of the settings lol.

While Avalanche should have thought of and circumvented this problem, microsoft should do something about this. It happens way too often if you ask me.

Nope - No message on game start or close.

So if I have my Steam folder outside of program files, it should save properly?

Is your Steam folder inside any folders?

Any progress on this? Had 0 issues until logging back in today, looks like I've lost all my progress and just have the option to start a new game?

Can anyone explain how to do this to an an idiot? Sadly I am an actual idiot. What exactly do I do after I click the little windows icon in the lower left of my screen in Windows 10? I don't see anything listed as "library" or "games". Thanks for any help you might provide me. :)

EDIT: I DID IT! I DID IT! I don't know HOW exactly I did it but I DID DO IT! YAY!!! Thanks guys. :)
