IS Just Cause 3 actually fun?
Soooo, I have wanted to get this game from when I saw the first few trailers. (Fire goooooood)

But the fact its been given a 'Mixed' by all the Steam players obviously makes me think twice about it.

Reading through allot of the negative reviews, some do comment on game features just not working out and such, but the majority say that its a broken game as they experience FPS issues, lags, crashes. Allot of annoying things. I can defo appreciate that you start to play your new shiny game and receive a horrid stutterfest, but these things (hopefully) will eventually get fixed.

What I want to know is, will I enjoy playing this game when everything is smoothed out? Things like doing missions, gameplay, controls, wasting time blowing stuff up and making tings fly that shouldn't really? I played JC2 from start to finish and it was a blast! (cough)

So, to those playing it and being lucky enough to run it smoothly. Would you say the game is 'fun' and worth getting?

As a heads up...
i7 - 4770
GTX 760 4gb

it is hella fun, the roaming is spectacular. it is a very easy game for a quick pickup and play as well as lengthy sessions.

It looks amazing if your rig can push it.

your spec will need tweaking. you may have a bad time trying to get it running studder free/etc.

you 4770 should be OC 4.0+ ghz and also try to overclock your 760 a bit. this will help immensely. the 4gb on your 760 will also help you a lot.

overall id say its worth it. certainly dont buy it from steam unless its on sale.

i wouldn't pay full price in its current state. lots of key sellers can help you there.

I have an i5 4460 and a GTX 970, and the game runs with smooth 60 FPS on High settings. Not Ultra High, but high. I had some framedrops, but all in all, the game runs really good.

Apart from that, the Game is so much fun. The Gameplay " Feeling " is really good and the tools ( Grappling Hook ) etc. are great fun. I have played Just Cause 2 too, and Just Cause 3 is a perfect sequel.

If you really want to play every mission and free every region in the game, Im sure that you can play it about 150-200 Hours
its stupid game...

Insanely fun! Or rather Explosively fun I'd say. ;)

I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as Just Cause 2. Parachute movement seems to be really cumbersome compared to the second one. The helicopters control like RC toys too. Very strange.

They tried to make the helicopters play like arcade (if you hold w, then a and d act like steering a car) a bit wrong.

I can't get into it now since I had been fighting since launch for them to patch some issues for AMD users, which they have on my end. It just left a bitter taste in my mouth so I haven't gone back.

Its fun, first 5-10 hours, after that you realize that game is really huge, but empty, and lacks something

Absolutely, it's a blast to play. With a little imagination this game will keep you entertained for 100s of hours. The gameplay is tight and the mechanics are well done. Some people claim it's too repetitive. I say those people lack in creativity.

I will say the driving and wingsuiting are very hard to master at first and for me those two elements represent over half of the fun. If you take the time to master them it adds infinitely more enjoyment to the game.

For me is the type of game that grows better the more you play it. The first play through was fun the next was awesome. For me this is a solid GOTY contender without a doubt.

I'm with you on all of that^

I'm over 100 hrs in (beat the game twice) and I'm still having fun. I've started experimenting with mods now to continue the fun. However, I am starting to get a little weary of the game. But for the time I spent playing vs the money I spent: worth it.

But if you're still weary about buying it wait until it drops in price. I suspect it won't be too long since (as you pointed out) it has mixed reviews and has actually had quite a lot of criticism. It shouldn't be too long before it drops in price

Most the negative reviews are from people with under GTX 670 graphics cards.

I.e. GT 730m graphics on a low end laptop.

GTX 670 MINIMUM.
GTX 780 RECOMMENDED.

Crazy fun game. A must have if you have modern harware.

Most of the negative reviews are, because of the performance issues. I'd suggest you wait a while, because they should have a patch rolling out soon and we'll see how the performance fares. For me the game hasn't run terribly bad and I've been able to enjoy the game, but for some AMD graphics card users the game has reportedly been pretty awful.

It's fun as, unlimited C4 makes it faster to play than JC2.

My cousin has a Radeon 8670M and even he enjoys it!

I absolutely love the gameplay, but the overworld is extremely underwhelming, once you beat the game and realize how little there is. The first two islands are particularly well designed, if not sparse compared to JC2's map, and then Insula Sriate is just a barren wasteland compared to Panau.

Don't get me wrong, there's some AWESOME bases in that area. Some of em took me like an hour to completely destroy (I particularly like using the tether a bunch), and seeing bigger and better things to blow up is always fun. The thing is, there's not nearly enough. I saw most people saying you can 100% the game in sub-50 hours, and I thought that was crazy... Up until I liberated every landmark in that same amount of time. With JC2, I put 70+ hours in, and only got to like 60% completion, just to give some perspective.

The only thing I'd really want, is an update that adds tons of smaller bases scattered around the islands, because we also have a volcano that's used for one, particularly short, story mission.
They could even add a landmass in the bottom left of the map, which is almost completely ocean. There's also DiRavello tapes stating that they were turning ruins into military bases, so they could easily get away with an update that converts some of the MANY ruins scattered around into more military installations. I'd be cool with that.

But yeah, tl;dr - Fun game, Disappointing Playground, Lackluster Amount of Content
Take that however you'd like.

EDIT - Nearly forgot

I've got a R9 280
12GB of RAM
3.8GHz Quad Core CPU

The game shuts off Windows Audio Service in Windows 10, and there's nothing I can do to fix it. Running in compatibility mode for 7 works just fine, but I still have an inconsistent framerate, most notably when in the bases with winding caves and underwater lakes.

The first optimization update helped just a little bit, but the LOD and texture budget mod helped way more.

Yea I agree, it looks like they realized that they were falling behind on the development and just gave up on Insula Striate and left it as it was. I was really disappointed in how easy the game was to 100% after I beat the story mode:(

It took me 110 hrs on jc2 to get to 90% completion (i plan on finishing it but the challenges suck) and it took me about 60 ish hrs to get 100% for jc3. Really was disappointed with size of jc3, especially after they hyped up the whole "Over 1000km^2 of land."
