On AMD cards, you get constant shadow/object flickering if you use global illumination (not sure if this applied to Nvidia ones too) but there is certainly no memory leak. With the above settings I get 50-60 fps everywhere. With global illumination off I get solid 60. Explosions no longer send fps down much and aside from the pretty horrendous driving physics the game performs great. Also the highest temp I have seen my card get to on this is 79 degres. CPU stays pretty cool (liquid cooled).
For people that cant run this with 8gb, I would suggest some pc maintenance is in order. Stop all the useless programs from starting with Windows and running in the background and get to the bare minimum needed to game. As when you need those other progs, you can open them, simple as that. If this is an issue solely with Nvidia and their drivers, this is another case entirely, but to test this i have also played this game with an 870m equipped Clevo notebook and get similar results (obviously lower framerate, but no massive stuttering and more than playable.)
Not sure if this is going to help anyone or probably will be ignored, but just my experience. There are things that need to be done better in the game (loading time, online only crap, which sometimes doesnt even seem to register...leaderboards etc disappear even when connected) and possibly some more optimisation; including global illumination.
I also run the game in borderless fullscreen (add to startup options; not sure if this is actually working to be honest) and I play with vsync on through the game. Pretty happy with the performance personally.
People also need to understand a memory leak will effect the game over time if there is one, and simple restarting the game will start the process off again. In my experience at least (and I dont doubt some may be different) 8gb is indeed enough for this game and no problems for me on that front.
One more thing, those users that have a "memory leak" And use Nvidia. Uninstall Geforce experience. Then try again. This program is horrendous for hogging system resources and doing nothing useful (aside from the shadowplay function) ---you bought a pc, learn how to configure games yourself! Just an idea for a potential fix for some of you. If it doesnt help, its easy enough to install again via a new Geforce driver (if you desperately need it---I highly recommend not using it.)
This topic was purely to help people play JC3, who don't really know how to optimise a PC for gaming and who are running into problems with only 8Gb RAM.
Try 2 play the game 4 about 2 or more hours and u will see that it eats more and more RAM.
OFc it will run longer without issues if u play on lowest settings.
The game runs ultra smooth on both my new and my old setup (new setup has a GTX 980 ti, the old setup has a GTX Titan, the old 6gb version)
Are you guys running setups with very low Vram? (I have seen the game use around 4gb of vram on max setting, so if you're on a gtx 970 that might explain it. Turn some of the graphics settings down a bit)
This seemed to be mostly the case for me. I went from 2gb 760gtx, to 970gtx. It was maxing the vram completely even on lowest settings. Biggest problems were the micro freezes and lags in the map/gear etc menus and in the completion screens. Also some stutters here and there in gameplay.
All issues seemed to be pretty much gone with the 970.
