FOW Destruction Frenzy?
As absurd as it sounds, I can't get more than 2 gears on this because you have to wait between deployments, causing the combo meter to go down. What gives?

Can you? The only weapon I had available was the airstrike laser designator.

Seems boring. I can do that anywhere. I wish you could call in multiple airstrikes simultaneously. But thanks for the advice - I'll prob use it to get the gears anyway.

I used the chopper to get the gears too.

Don't know if the following will get you to 5 gears with the FOW (I used the helo) but it should get you more than 2. It's a stategy that applies to all frenzy challenges. Before your first destruction, find 7 vehicles and park them together. Make this your first destruction. It immediately takes the points multiplier to 8x, and if you can continue to reqularly take out chaos items, the points multiplier stays up and the clock is no longer a constraint.
