I thought the controls were fine, its the physics and handling that are messed up.

Physics are more funny and absurd than realistic on purpose. Handling is weird. Controls are good once you remap a few.

Just Cause was never about driving, its all about blowing ♥♥♥♥ up anyway

I love driving.
Don't drive the motorcycles, though.

The driving mechanics were slated in jc2, seems they did not learn a thing when they did jc3, the driving mechanics are still god awful, I just use helicopters and wingsuit to get about (unless the mission forces you to use a ground vechicle.)

The deves need to go play some gta 3, 4 and 5.

Agree ^ most cars are ok'ish but "motorcycles are bad" but usable in a pinch but not preferred.

I liked the motorcycle in JC2 they worked well to me but the JC2 cars were horrendous to handle.

It strikes me strange that in this day and age they can't get both cars n motorcycles working well together in the same game.

But yeah in general the driving mechanics were greatly improved from JC2 but still have a lot more room for improvement. Basically about a half dozen vehicles are fun drive and the rest range from mediocre to awful.

Boat controls are a non issue and plane controls, while not good, are quite serviceable. The helicopters could definitely use more work.

But just for perspective think back on how crappy trying to shoot people while in your parachute was in JC2 and how much that improved for JC3. I'm hopeful for even better driving controls and physics in JC4.

Plus the real reason to play JC3 is for the wingsuit which is a phenomenal experience.
There's multiple Furias.
I think.
Or is that the Autostraad bike, whatever it is?

You have 3 sportbikes. The Stria Giovanni, Mugello Furia MS-316, and the MV402. The other bikes are the cruiser, the dirt bike, the scooter, and the military bike.

Out of the 3 sportbikes the Furia is the most manageable. It's main issue is it starts its turns very slow but once the bike is leaning it's manageable.

The Stria is known for oversteering and being an impossible mess to handle without babying it. These two bikes look similar but handle very differently. Avoid Strias like the plague and be warned there are more Strias on the road than any other bike. You can enjoy Furias if you are patient enough to master the slugguish steering inputs.

MV402 is a straight line speed demon and doesn't handle too badly but the tires are always screeching making it seem out of control. Plus it's just too fast for most of the roads.

The Furia is fast but not too fast like the MV402, doesn't oversteer like the Stria, and has a turn radius that matches many of the curvy roads. With some boost it becomes as fast as you'd ever want it and is actually a lot of fun.
Hey, the Pavouk (military bike) is pretty good for epic drifting.

vehicle controls on ground are still garbage but flying and boat are still fine, for land stuff I just parachute and grapple to move around unless a mission requires a land vehicle

The Custode 29 is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, because it likes to jump up into the air on every wave and that both makes it slow down and makes a really annoying sound.

Rebind your keybinds in the options. If you're still having problems with stuff like vehicle controls, then perhaps it's the sensitivity of the vehicle. For example, bikes tend to be a lot more sensitive than modern cars, as the bikes are smaller and don't have great handling. If that is your problem, try using a different vehicle. Such bikes include, but not limited to: The Geschwind V3000.

Also note that the OP just made this thread and never touched it again, despite having made it almost 2 weeks ago.

On a personal note, my "only" (so far) complaint in this game is the performance. On low-ish settings, it runs at an average of 40-45 FPS, with a solid 60 on the main menu/pause/CommLink.

That's actually similar to the issues most people experience with driving. Most cars have terrible downforce and after hitting the slightest bump get airborne and lose traction. Since every little road in the game has a berm rightin it's edge, as soon as you drop a single tire off the road you're typically wildly out of control for the next few seconds. Plus turn radius and sensitivity is a bit janky for lots of cars.

The trick to making the driving fun is to treat it more like a racing sim. What I mean by that is you need to focus on maintaining traction and drive in a very controlled fashion proactively braking ahead of sharp turns and blind hills and careful not to hold your steering inputs for very long. Tap your steering inputs for better control.

If you take the time you can master the driving and it's actually a lot of fun. It's just that it is a skill you have to develop and it's not at all intuitive. I do hope the driving is much more accessible in the sequel while maintaining the semi realism they captured in JC3.

for me its not the tires coming off the road thats the problem, its the steering thats the problem, the cars don't turn sharp enough even at a slow speed
