McAfee Quarantining file
McAfee keeps on quarantining the just cause 3.exe file so whenever I try to launch the game that file gets removed and put into the quarantine zone mcafee has, which makes steam say that the game failed to start. Please help any help will be appreciated and surely I cannot be the only one who has experienced this problem.

i dont use McAfee, so that's something you would have to fix. Take it off of it's firewall or something

Make an exception for it in your McAfee settings. That particular antivirus has a reputation for having and never fixing false positives

Another notorious one would be Avast. Have definitely seen its name popped up more than a few times around the Steam forums.

I suggest you grab bitdefender instead, IT DOES bloack games but it's really simple to unblock stuff and it has stopped a lot of bad stuff from going into my system.

At my work we can't recommend Malwarebytes enough. Back when you could buy perpetual licenses it was the very best but their quality hasn't declined

Spattle, out of interest can you tell me what McAfee detects it as? It should tell you in the quarantine zone why it was quarantined, i.e. what threat it detected in the file. Alternatively you can just right-click on the file and scan with McAfee, then it should tell you what it detected and allow you to choose what to do with it, so you can say "ignore" and it won't mess up your game again!

If it's not too much trouble I'd be very interested to know.

Thanks very much, good gaming!

Wow, 7 months later, and this problem still exists with McAfee. I'm having the exact same problem, and FYI McAfee thinks it's a trojan. I think even Norton would be better than McAfee at this point.

Hey there Some Guy, I don't suppose you'd be able to answer my question above would you? I didn't hear anything back from the original person that reported this! I'm just wondering exactly what McAfee detects it as (it should have some silly but unique name name such as "Generic Trojan.a!02FD960E1507" or something like that).

If you can help I'd be much obliged but no problem if not!

Cheers, good gaming!

This. I would've typed it myself, but I already uninstalled mcafee and I've been playing the game since.

update:
work after turn off mcafee(before launching the game)
Seawolf9er Jul 25, 2017 @ 9:15pm
easy way is reset everything in mcafee to default (firewall)
the check the game cache to download missing files should be ok after that . I run it and have that issue from time to time .. although might be worth wild to run malware bytes to do a check on your system to .
