Sea of Black Tears stage battle help

So, I know I am famously garbage at RTS games, but so far I’ve been able to safely make my way through this game. Then I got to this mission, which I’ve been at for over 30 minutes by now. I’ve already downed both of the electric towers with the crusher units and I’ve killed the tree that spawns afterward, so I should be able to send my units over the bridge to destroy Ophelia’s stage right? Well that’s where I’m at right now, but every time my units have made it to the bridge they meet up with Ophelia’s units. Ophelia’s units will always win out in this exchange, which leaves me to refresh my entire army from zero. Next up I have to use whatever units come out first to help me take out the last of the units that have now made it across the bridge, and also repair any merch towers that fall in this process. I legit have no idea what I’m doing wrong, I’m even using the solos to block her units and buff mine, but it never gives me enough time to get enough to make it across the bridge. The only option I can think of left is lowering the difficulty from normal to gentle, but I would feel awful if I have to bring myself to do that, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest that you first get all the fan geysers and save up lots of fans before destroying the towers, since Ophelia will sent more units after that. You can defend your geysers from the waves of enemies in the meantime.

What units are you making?
Units in the game are either flesh or vehicles. And, each counter either type (sometimes both). Units are coded to prioritize attacking whatever they counter. Your Rock Crusher, for example, has a powerful double team attack but will go down quickly to the Doom army, especially to the Broods, the Treeback, and others (these guys heavily counter vehicles). So, here's what I do: I jump on the Rock Crusher, do the double team attack, then back up and wait for recharge, and do the attack command so that my other units go in. Since you're fighting on the bridge and enemies only come from one direction, this should be easier to do.
You want to have a mixed group of infantry and ranged units in your army. The infantry goes in first and shields your ranged units that do good damage. Make Bouncers and a Metal Beast for the front line. Rock Crusher, upgraded Razor Girls (you can upgrade your level 1 units for 200 fans), and maybe Headsplitters. Thunderhogs are a must in any Ironheadede army because their healing is really good. So make those guys.
Lastly, I'm going to leave this video here. It's my attempt at beating that mission in a modded playthrough that makes it beyond insane to beat.

I was able to beat this the other night, but didn’t leave a comment here. I realized the mistake I was making was that I was wasting fans still trying to send out normal headbanger troops. It never got through to me that they were essentially obsolete by the time I had the rock crusher out and beaten the two towers. Once I realized that things went much more smoothly, since I was going for lots of the ranger cars, healers, and big hands guys.

Yeah, when you get to tier 3, Headbangers are replaced by Bouncers. It's only worth upgrading them if you have a lot of them left over from before.
Then also Headsplitters get replaced by Upgraded Razorgirls (unless you got a ton of fans and want them to get over to the other side of the map as fast as possible).

Deploy 2 Razor Girl units for each Headbanger unit.
Upgrade stage to unlock Headsplitters.
Make Headsplitters each time you need to replace headbangers or razor girls.

It seems to be down to luck or random chance. I got steamrolled the first time I attempted this mission, and won without problems on my second try. The main thing to know is that you'll get attacked by a massive force the instant you destroy the two guard towers. So before you do that, take over all the geysers and set your rally flag at the bridge, which makes a nice chokepoint. Max out your population and upgrade everyone. I had a mix of headbangers, razor girls, fire beasts and Thunderhogs, plus of course the rock crusher. Use the crusher's special attack to destroy the towers, then to take down enemy forces as they start crossing the bridge. Once you've blunted their initial assault (including the big tree), you can attack their stage. Make sure to keep replacing units as they're lost.

Oh, and I mostly just stayed with the rock crusher and used its Bladehenge attack. Trying to play a solo in the middle of an enemy group would just get me killed in seconds.
