This dreadful 2 second delay jump
Is it just me? You get accustomed to it after a while but it stinks

2 seconds delay? waaat
If you mean how she bends her knees to give herself enough upward force to lift from the ground like every human being, then it's normal, lol.
It's not like in other games like Skyrim where you jump and your character magically defies gravity instantly.

It's still way too slow and awkward. I end up holding ALT so hard, just in hope of reaching that ledge. Save, load, load, load, save, load, load ...

eh you'll get used to it... I don't remember ever having a problem with how the jumps work.
If you need help with the basic controls and everything, check out Stella's walkthroughs, it's everything you need to know, this page in particular
http://tombraiders.net/stella/strategy.html
shows all the basic tricks you can do, it's all stuff you need to know if you want to get to the end.
Check out the related pages too.

Well so far Ive played 11hrs and Ive finished Midas, game is good but its dated, controls are terrible. I only play for old time sake

Controls are fine, like you said you get used to it... like every other game.
Pomki Mar 12, 2016 @ 2:59am
controling a human truck is fine

There's no delay. Doing a standing jump will make you jump instantly.
Doing a running jump will need running space of 1 "block" and you won't jump anytime sooner.
Go to the ledge, hop backwards, do a running jump by running then holding jump. It's as easy as that. If you can't figure it out and master it and find it "godawful" then it's a PEBCAK issue.

if you enjoy slowly walking backward every single time to prepare every jump
then this game is for you!
That's without talking about the close walls and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up camera.
if you dislike the trash controls you're a casual

I played tomb raider with a gamepad and keyboard
and its sad to say its better with keyboard.
I would have never played this entire game with a ps1 controller with "save crystals".
There's not even a good OST,
just wind and a nostalgic eerrie feeling of being watched.

Well whatever guys, Game is a classic that's why I'm playing it. but it's bad 1999 controls.
Groen90 Mar 12, 2016 @ 2:03pm
You know you're complaining about a game from 96... that's 20 years ago... right?
I don't remember anyone complaining about it back then. Or the years after for that matter :compa:

does it matter? Im just saying what I thought of the game after playing it for 11hrs. You guys sure love to defend old games you such veteran and wise Im just a casual ofc

I played it back in 97-99 and I still hated the controls, I played with a gamepad, horrendous.
Tomb Raider II is where it's at.

You kind of are a casual, no need to admit otherwise and feel bad about it. A veteran is already past the awkward controls phase and wouldn't even need to do a backward hop before a running jump. (don't expect the controls to get much better for the next 5 games either, as the refinements are minor)

You've already reached Midas which is pretty good. Give it more time and you'll master the controls and start enjoying the puzzles.

Get a running start and your jump should be fairly quick.

If you had two anchor-sized polygons on your chest, you'd probably have trouble getting off the ground too.
