Keyboard Controls
Yes, it takes awhile to get used to but you CAN become proficient with Lara on the keyboard... with some practice.

arrows - movement & turning

alt - jump and swim

ctrl - action (pulling yourself up, using levers and keys, shooting your guns, etc.)

shift - hold down to walk (can't fall off ledges using this)

0/ins (right of arrow keys) - hold down and use arrows to look around without moving

space bar - draw guns / holster guns

delete and pg dn - side step left or right

end - roll (quickly faces you the opposite direction)

esc - menu (you can access inventory items here and if you hit the down arrow, you can save or load)

enter - confirm button in menu

To exit the game, press esc for the menu, down arrow, confirm on passport and right arrow to exit. The again in the starting menu, press enter on the passport and right arrow to exit game.

When first playing TR, make sure to hit the arrows on the starting menu until you can access Lara's house and practice practice practice in the comfort of her gym. :) (P.S. - she won't have guns here so you'll have to practice shooting and jumping while shooting during the main game)

I hope I didn't miss anything and I hope this helps.

Just dropping by with my own scheme and yes, it's a rather awkward one, but one you too can get used to regardless

wasd - movement keys
q - side step left
e - side step right
space - jump / swim
t - draw / holster guns
c - roll
ctrl - walk
tab - inventory / menu
f - use / shoot
p (hold) - look around <- the only button you need the right hand for

Oh nice! I'll have to try some of yours and see if they suit me better.

I changed it to:
A - turn left
W - walk forward
S - walk back
D - turn right
K - action
J - jump / swin
L - roll
I - draw guns / holster guns
U - side step left
O - side step right
Y - look
P - walk
N - menu

Same for Tomb Raider 2, 3, 4 . . . But at TR 2 I use "H" for flare.

I use these buttons as it simulates (for me) a PS1 controller and feels natural to me, every game like that, or when I used to play racing games on keyboard or whatever that dont use mouse, I use this configuration:
AWSD as "movement keys"
JIKL as "square/triangle/X/circle" respectively
I/O as R1/R2
U/Y as L1/L2
N as start
B as select
H for some extra action as it is near the action buttons for me.

But, above all . . . walking with arrows (what mean using the right hand to move the character) and doing action with keys spread through the keyboard (with the left hand) is totally unnatural to me and I never even tried much to get used.

I just tried these. I also like to use game controllers with this style of game. These controls are great so far. Playing the house level right now doing some testing of your setup.
Well, dont know what was the setup you was used to before changing to mine, depending it may take a time to get used to (even worst if you was using the arrows on right hand to control Lara movement and other keys with the left hand to control her actions, may be troublesome if you was used to having the action keys near the movement keys, like having action keys as Q/E/R/Z/X/C/F/G that are keys around A/W/S/D).
To me it was natural as I always used directional buttons on the left and action buttons on the right at controller, also AWSD is normal for fps and other games too.

Ah, if you never played any of these games . .well, as you wanted to try my setup, keep trying for a bit longer.

AWSD you can use along with Y or P without a problem at keyboard, also you only use Y "to look" or P to "walk" when there is no need for sudden jump or attack.
You can also use both K, J and L sequentially or J+K along with W to grab a surface or K+L to roll and keep attacking without a problem too.
As you dont need to use weapons while doing parkour and you dont need to do much parkour while holding weapons "I" for "draw guns / holster guns" is tyhere to be pressed just once in a while and U for " side step left" and O for " side step right" also dont need to be used along with other keys and I sugest not using any of the both while in combat, as it is "slow walk speed" but can be a tool in case the enemy is far away and you want to attack, so you can keep attacking with K and press U or O to sidestep out and back from your cover.

None of the keys that need to be pressed simultaneously will make you twist your fingers to press both simultaneously if you keep, 3 fingers on ASD (where you need to move only 1 finger for W and S) and if you keep 3 fingers on JKL, where you will use 1 finger for YUJH, 1 finger for POL and 1 finger for IK and everything is near.
I almost forgot about H . . . almost never use it anyway as instead of using flares I use the pistols to light my way through.

I have played the first 3 tomb raider games before on ps1 but not the pc games. Just bought the old original 9 games and the 2013 tomb raider games while on sale.
I played all the Tomb Raiders (all PS1 TRs and all PC TRs).
For PC TRs, that already have mouse inputs to it, many of the controls dont even make sense to have at keyboard for right hand as right hand will be at mouse, but for the PS1 games that dont use mouse and still have all the actions, along with any other game on emulator or games of the kind that dont use mouse, like classic Sonic games or fighting games, I use the same configuration of:
AWSD as "movement keys"
JIKL as "square/triangle/X/circle" respectively
I/O as R1/R2
U/Y as L1/L2
N as start
B as select
I described when I play on keyboard.
