Defiance help

I have been playing Defiance for about 2 months, I have over 500 hours in game and about $60 into the game. About a week ago I went to play and I got the message "Glyph has encountered an error", and the game will not start. I have uninstalled and re installed it about 5 times and get the same results. After every uninstall I remove all the files and run cc cleaner to get rid of everything. I even tried downloading it from Glyph with the same results. I wrote them a trouble shooting ticket and this was their reply..."Thank you for contacting us regarding Defiance.

I really love this game but have been unable to play it for 5 days or so. Can anyone help me?

p.s....When I click on validate files it says 62 files have failed to validate and will be reacquired. Then it starts the download all over again..

Have you tried opening the glyph launcher directly? First, go into the .cfg file and where it says "UseSteam=1", change the "1" to a "0", then use the "GlyphClient.exe" file directly.

Bottom line: Try creating a new account. If you can log into the new account, it's not Glyph. It's your account at that point. Just go on their website and get in touch with the online help folks and they will be able to fix the problem.

The 62 file thing happened to me too and it redownloaded all 13 gigs for the game. The fact is that there was nothing wrong with your game files,your character was in a spot where it couldnt load due to some code glitch (it happened to me the first time I looged out in overpass.) After a few failed attampts and spamming ccleaner while delete items in my temp folder it eventually let me in the game and the problem seemed to fix itself.

hey I found a few things but over all the issue is steam to glyph interface. So, get rid of the steam version, Download the Glyph version and install that in the default folder that glyph will use, for soem reason the 2 converged doesnt work.

So.. I'll reiterate... The issue with Glyph crashing has nothing to do with Steam or Glyph. It's the account itself. To prove this, try to log into another account. If you can log into a different account, then the issue isn't Glyph or Steam. I had this issue about a month ago and couldn't log in for a week. I had to get the online help folks to straighten it out for me. Took them about 10 minutes when I told them I could log into other accounts, but not my own.

If you can't log in with a different account, then try some other other remedies here. Overall your best bet is to run the game apart from Steam anyway since you won't have lag when you're in areas with lots of people that aren't logged in via Steam.

Bacon Overloard I did what you suggested and removed it from steam. Went to the Glyph web site and re downloaded glyph and Defiance. I get the same issue. I do not have another account. I want so bad to play again I will pay anyone that will help me. After I became addicted to this game it is the only thing I do on the computer now..How do I get on line help? Should I reinstall it on steam and ask them for help? I have teamviewer and Skype. If someone can help me my skype username is ronboronbo......$50 for anyone that can get this game working for me. I am a man of my word and you will get paid for helping me getting this game working again..

That's not what I suggested... those were steps I took and failed at to get my game working.

Create a new free account and see if you can log into it. All you need is a new email account (go open a free one if you don't already have an extra one) If you can in with that newbie account, then you know your other account is the problem.. and not Glyph or Steam.

At that point you'll have to go to the support portion of the website then go to "help" and click the contact us and online chat option. It might take a few hours to get through the queue, but it's still faster than waiting 72 hours for an email response.

Bacon I did what you said and created a new email add. Then I logged into Glyph with my new email and pw. The glyph launcher now works and I can get into Defiance as a new player. So, as you said there is nothing wrong with my game install or Glyph launcher. The trouble is with my account at Glyph correct? I never spent any money at Glyph only at Steam for a few DLC, so I guess live chat is out of the question with Glyph. I will send in a trouble ticket tonight and ask then to please fix my old account at their end...right? I am now starting at Ego =0. I want my old toons back that are over 2000 Ego. If they fix my account there will be a check coming your way......thank you.

I used a similar method making a Rift account bound to the same login email as my Defiance account to test if the loader was broken it wasn't as I could load into Rift no worries. So if you see that post what I and others did is sit in Live Help, all up it took 2.75 hours I should warn you and also Trion has made live help something available to only people that have made purchases in the last 30 days. Hopefully some of that $60 falls into that category you've mentioned and you can access it to get the same fix others and myself received. To people that can't access Live Help because of no purchases in the last 30 days or ever in the case of most F2P people you may have to wait it out for a much longer time, over a week in some cases I've heard in the Defiance forums. Other solution for this case F2P in particular is buying the minimum $5 of bits from logging into the Glyph website http://www.trionworlds.com/defiance/en/store/ you made a purchase now you access Live Help.
Yeah I said it....... buy something (this isn't directed toward you ronbo191 you already put $60 more than most new players) but it's an easy way for anyone new/F2P to access the Live Help. You may say wtf $5 forget that but you can look at it as 2 point fix you get Live Help and also you can upgrade that toon with some inventory and keycode carry upgrade when they do fix the account and I promise you given you have the time they can 100% fix this.
Hope you get a result and have access right away ronbo191 due to purchases, Live Help hours are Monday-Sunday 08:00 AM- 07:00 PM CDT log into the Glyph loader then hit this link https://support.trionworlds.com/app/chat/chat_launch or the 'support' button in the loader and prepare to wait for some time. I played some other single player game in windowed mode while I waited with the live help chat box open in game screen.
Good luck to anyone else this is a hassle but 100% fixable given time in queue and also the puchase conditions.

Yes, they will fix your old account. I don't need any money though. I'm just trying to get his sorted for you. Just make sure you mention that you can log into a separate, new account but can't log into your old account. That will narrow down what's wrong.

This might be a dumb question but can I also go back to Steam and download the game from them to put in my Steam library. It will not affect my install from Glyph will it? I have ton's of room in my C drive, so space is not an issue. ha ha ..If you don't need the money I will spend it on bits when I get my old account working. I will never forget how helpful you have been to me. The world needs more people like you. Thank you from deep in my heart, I really mean that.

No worries... I wouldn't play the game through Steam right now though.. they're having some client-lag issues that cause people to have problems and glitches during major arkfalls and player-centric events, etc.

But, either way I hope the response is quick.. but I'm betting it will take a few days. Good luck.

Just thought I would give you and update, Have not heard from Glyph yet on my ticket. Got my new account toon up to 500 ego so far. Might never get my old account fixed. Sure do miss my 4 orange weapons and orange crimefighter...

Still have not heard from Glyph. My main account still does not work. I get the "Glyph has encountered and error every time I try to play. My secondary account works fine but I am at a much lower EGO level then my main account so it is not as much fun to play. I made a $5 purchase to get 15 more inventory slots so maybe I can try the life chat Monday, if that would do any good anyway. I have almost given up getting my main account working again and it really pisses me off. I wish I could call them on the phone and talk to someone because I am not good at typing. I am very slow with that...

It really doesn't matter how long it takes you to type things. They are there to help.

If you're self conscious about it, maybe you can pre-type some of the things you want to tell them and just cut and paste it into the chat window.
