2012.11.26") and it asked me if I wanted to modify, repair or unistall PhysX so that means I already have PhysX installed (and latest version too!).
Still crashing on start-up and just bought this game from the sale.. Too bad I didn't do research before I bought this.. I did pay the money what ended up to charity when they started to develope this game and I really wanted this game since then but.. Not working now (anymore?)..
Any other fix than PhysX?
EDIT2: Found a fix!
Go to \Steam\steamapps\common\Afterfall InSanity\RascalGame\Config
and open DefaultEngine.ini file
and find line bForceNoMovies=
and change the value from FALSE to TRUE
save file
launch the game, enjoy
So I updated nvidia physx system software to newest version and game works now!
I suggest to everyone who in trouble update video- and physx drivers 1st
Follow my instructions and it should work for you as well.
If you already installed physx then uninstall it. Now download the latest version, right click the installer and select Run as Administrator. Let it finish.
The pysx uninstall and reinstall worked for me, however the video logo that launches at the begining displayed as a black screen. Once the video stopped and unloaded, the AF:Insanity main UI showed up. There is a fix for this as well. PLEASE keep READING.
I changed video resolution to match my windows native resolution then quit the game. When I relaunched the game I could see the video just fine. I didn't have to change any config settings manually. Just for kicks I changed it back to the default res and restarted the game, same thing ,black screen.
SO I figured it has something to do with the video card throwing an error. I remember reading somewhere that another game had issues with resizing the resolution on a dual monitor system, so I disabled my second monitor in the ATI catalyst settings and then lauched the game. Eureka, the video was working properly. So if you have dual monitors and are having troubles launching, then disable one of them and see if it helps.
unplugging my USB headset didn't work
physx didn't work
what a piece of ♥♥♥♥, can I get my money back?
Anyhoo, game crashes consistently with 7.1 sound, but fine at 5.1 or stereo.
So maybe try downgrading your system sound settings from 7.1 as a fix.
the rest of the vids are loading screens that a basicaly still images, the rest of game has ingame movie scenes.
edit: you can download a tool called rad video tools
http://www.radgametools.com/down/Bink/RADTools.exe
With this you can watch bik files and convert them to avi,
When i converted it to Avi I used the Xvid codec (you may need to download the codec), then i open i opened it with Virtualdub then coverted it to an xvid avi with no audio (since the audio is the thing that make your game crash).
So i used Rad video tools to convert the new Audioless avi back into a bik file, you can do this to each bik file and your game will run perfect just no audio in the bik vids.... (remeber there is only one video the intro the rest are just loading screens)
