Suicide Button

I want the ability to turn the gun on myself if im surrounded by zombies and dont want to get infected and cause trouble for teammates, or if im just infected, or bored with life. Great game though.

There is already a way to commit suicide built into the game, although it may not be generally known. You can kill yourself at any time, but it isn't going to be as effective as being able to put a bullet into your own head.

It will only be useful if you are not already infected, so it will only work in the situation where you said you're "surrounded by zombies and don't want to get infected and cause trouble for teammates, or bored with life".

All you have to do is type kill into console. If you want to bind a key just type:

bind "whateverkey" "kill" into console. Then you can commit suicide by pressing the button.

Unfortunately It will not work if you are infected. You will still become a zombie.

How exactly do you plan to implement this? I can legitimately see players accidently killing themselves and then ranting about it on the forums.

I hope there is an actual animation for it. I know it would be hard work but diferend animation with all the weapons would be just soo awesome. hahaha

Maybe something like Hold E when you're infected. Can't suicide if you're not infected.

Go to steam library and right click on NMRIH, properties, andselect starting options.
type in "-console" to activate console in game.
When You want to do suicide, press ESC and type in "kill" in console.

There You go.

Self headshot with any gun hm. Too bad kill in console is just setting hp to 0. If you got infected, and you do it, you still turn, but if you would be able to prevent turning it would be nice.

I'm trying to understand the best strategy and how the dynamics work.

If infected, wouldn't it also be a good strategy to take down as many zombies as possible, try to take down a horde. If you're killed right away do you eventually come back as a zombie ( meaning you're not dying a slow death but immediate)

Sure you could run around and get someone to kill you or maybe throw a grenade in a room by yourself.

I'm just curious to see what the best choice would be 1. Try to take out as many zombies as you can and then just get over run and suffer immediate death.

2. Get someone to kill you.

I'll stick to going down while swinging. Even if I may turn into a Zombie, at least i'll know I took out more than I put in.

They finally added the suicide button. It was not set as a control for me, the key was blank in the options, but I just changed it to K so I did not do it unintentionally. Press the button to bring the gun to your head, then left click to pull the trigger or click the button again or right click to pull the gun away. Happy shooting!
