Sorry to hear you have had an issue.
The console is activated with the ` or ~ keys on a standard US English keyboard. Being part of the source engine, the team wasn't responsible for the mapping.
As a user pointed out above, you can launch the game with an option for the console to open automatically each and every time.
1. Regular DoS-type commands don't seem to be working if they mean navigate WITHIN steamcmd.
2. If they mean navigat in WINDOWS, there doesn't seem to be a custom modifier field on the .exe properties in Windows 8... Clicking the .exe just fizzles, and I don't see how to add the commands anywhere.
Edit: thanks for the help by the way, the game seems good enough to make it work even though there are frustrations.
I wrote the instructions on the wiki. I will edit them to be more clear when it's up to it's normal state.
look for srcds then, it has a lambda logo like hl2.
Yeah I found the .exe, I just don't know how to launch it alongside those commands as in Windows 8, there seems to be no field for that in program properties. I guess I can try from a normal Windows command prompt?
Might explain it better. Being so busy, I can only spend so much time on each thread.
