Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days

notes and/or map
I constantly find myself in the same situations where I wish there was some sort of note or map system for all the locations in the game

For example, I go exploring but don't have the necessary equipment to finish the area, i may not have boltcutters, picklock, or just not enough weapons to deal with a room full of zeds, so I retreat and go explore different locations ....

in doing so (+ as I discover and search more new locations), I lose track of where I have been, or more precisely which locations are "completed" (locations where there are sleepers left will still show as threat in the map). So, I cannot distinguish between "completed" and "retreated from" locations, and in case of the "retreated from" location, after couple locations I just simply have no clue why I have retreated them anymore.

Please add some "notes" system, or map of the areas so we can see if there are some unexplored parts of a location, or something to help with this problem since I'm constantly searching through completed locations and finding nothing or re-entering locations that I can't complete with my current (lack of) gear

if you fully scavenged a place, in the "planning mode" the location will not show u any ressources to find there. i mean, there is always 4 categorys, and it will preview how many of which type is there to find. if you got everything from a place, it will not show you any available ressources in this place.... fixes one of your problems.

the other one, about you might need a lockpick or something... well, you can take 1 with you, and at least 2 weapons, which usually is enough to fill your backpack. you have to come back anyway, after the first few locations, you cant just take anything with you anymore anyway.

its just weird u run into such situations after 2h. just making sure... you are not talking about blocked doors (from inside)? there is several locations like this, usually the way inside is the roof then. (press W, or whatever UP is - depending on your control type, when you are standing on the end of the roof) ;)

Indeed, being able to add a note for a place should be useful. As for me, I took a paper notebook in front of my keyboard, and I note in columns: the place name, is it completely looted, what the shelter is made of if applicable, and what is needed to unlock like a bolt cutter or other. I started simple to complete the map information on the screen. I haven't fully understood the changes yet and what means what.

but why take notes about what is looted and where? it previews this in planning mode.

1 screenshot fully looted place - 1 screenshot almost full looted place - 1 screenshot not taken any loot there.

To have a tabular list where everything is visible at a glance without having to click on the areas one by one or switch the window or use a secondary screen, it's just a cross next to the name, the important thing is the name, for me, my way of memorizing, with cards. I'm from the paper era even if a lot of things have changed. Thus for example even before making UML diagrams with a software, which I don't do often, I draw the classes and stuff on a sheet, it's faster. And yet I use TC since NC. And even though I have a great tree-structured and encrypted notes software, I'm constantly writing down on pieces of paper, which are sometimes put in order in this software or elsewhere like Word and VS or WP.

Thanks for explaining the changes with the EA!

well then, guess everybody does it the way he prefers doing it. :D

just wanted to mention to OP, wasting a cycle, because you are trying to loot a fully looted place, basically cant happen. the game shows there is no loot left. :)

I use Steam Overlay notes and Windows Snipping Tool (Win + Shift + S then Ctrl + V to paste the snip in the note) to keep track of certain things.
